Some homes really have a way of making you slow down from the very first step inside. You notice it right away because the light pours in just right and you hear a bit of birdsong outside, sometimes even before you set down your keys. It just feels quieter somehow. Woodland walks wind around a bit and there is always a bench if you want to just sit with a coffee and watch the ducks for a while. If you need to pop into town, the station will link up to Reading Crossrail, making trips into London feel surprisingly doable. You are actually a short stroll from the primary school too, so mornings can stay a bit less hectic. What I really like is the sense that you can be as social or as private as you want. Take the scenic route around the water or head over to the market square when you are up for bumping into neighbours. It is one of those places where you start getting to know familiar faces, from the folks at the coffee shop to the families at the playground. It is not always easy to find a spot with this much greenery yet so close to proper city life. Evenings feel peaceful. Sometimes you almost forget your phone.
