11 February 2021 Written by Staff Writer

Chinese New Year falls on February 12th in 2021, marking the start of the Year of the Ox. While grand parades and events are sadly on hold for the time being, there is one aspect of the occasion you can still celebrate - great food. Below are some of the best dining options for celebrating Chinese New Year in Dubai.

You can enjoy a long celebration at Atlantis the Palm’s highly renowned Cantonese restaurant. Hakkasan will be offering a special menu until the 26th of February, which will kick off with a ‘fire and grace’ cocktail and will be followed by dishes such as crispy kumquat chicken, fried rice with braised abalone and roasted duck, and wok-fried prawn with macadamia nuts.

Saffron

An international dining hall with a strong Asian focus, Saffron at Atlantis the Palm will have a grand Chinese buffet on offer, covering dishes from various regions. This menu will be available until February 16th, so you will have a chance to sample it even after the weekend is done. And with its array of cooking stations, Saffron certainly provides the right element of theatricality that the occasion demands.

Tuck into a sumptuous five-course meal at Caesars Palace Bluewaters, including the classic Peking Duck and dishes like chicken soup with handmade xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and lao yusheng (raw fish salad). The meal also includes two hours of beverages, with either a soft drinks or alcohol option.

Palm Jumeirah is really one of the best places where you can celebrate Chinese New Year, as yet another restaurant on this list can be found on the island. Lau is located in the Waldorf Astoria, and will feature a special three-course menu composed of festive favourites. This menu will be available on February 11, leaving you free for other plans on New Year’s Day.

If you want to celebrate the occasion with a meal that isn’t specifically Chinese, then you could head to Zengo at Le Meridien Resort in Dubai Marina. The famous pan-Asian restaurant is giving you a taste of the Far East with its four-course menu this Friday. Dishes include lamb chops with panang curry sauce teriyaki salmon and matcha cheesecake.

Shanghai Me
