Some places just feel different as soon as you walk through the door. I remember when I first visited this four bedroom apartment at 520 West 28th Street in West Chelsea. You know how sometimes city living can feel a bit boxed in? Here, it's almost the opposite. There is this sense of space and curves everywhere you look. It actually feels more sculpted than built, which is not something you get very often in Manhattan.

The building itself is the work of Dame Zaha Hadid and honestly you can feel the touch of her hand in everything. The first thing you'll notice from the street is how it seems to wrap around itself, almost like a piece of modern art with these smooth lines and folds running all the way up. I stood outside for a few minutes just watching how the light moved across the metal, changing as the clouds drifted past. Even before you get inside, you already know you're about to see something special. And as soon as you walk in, that feeling just settles right in. There are only thirty nine residences in the building so it never feels crowded or noisy. You'll always have that rare New York thing – actual elbow room.

The apartment itself is split out across four main areas, and the big great room is the one you tend to drift toward first. There's a double living space with views across Chelsea and a dining area that just feels right for a lazy afternoon lunch with friends or impromptu coffee breaks. The kitchen is tucked right nearby but it does not feel isolated – it's a place that you'd actually cook a proper meal in, not just warm up takeout. The Italian design comes through in lots of small ways and I have to say even opening the cabinets feels kind of satisfying. There's a big family area next to a wide balcony where you catch all the city bustle but from a nice quiet height. Sometimes you see the High Line below and the world rushing by, but up here it feels a bit more peaceful.

There are three bedrooms with their own bathrooms so everyone gets a sense of privacy, and the master suite is another world. Two walk in closets mean there's actually room for all the stuff we collect, and the bathroom is one of those places you might find yourself lingering instead of rushing out the door. What I liked most was all the glass around the edge of the apartment. It's not just windows, it's these huge panels that curve with the building, and sometimes you find yourself just standing there watching the city do its thing. Morning light feels pretty amazing in here, and at night, the skyline is just laid out in front of you like your own painting.

Living at 520 West 28th comes with those little extras you end up really appreciating. There's a huge indoor pool under a skylight, so even in winter you can get a few laps in and then just sit and relax. The lobby makes an impression with its feature wall – it's one of those details you'll point out to friends and say yeah, that's a Zaha Hadid design too. Sometimes you get to watch a film in New York's only private IMAX cinema, and I think that's one of those things you don't realize how cool it is until you've done it. The gym was put together by The Wright Fit so you know it's proper, and there's a lounge with a chef's kitchen for low key weekends or evenings when you want to have people over without planning an entire production. You don't even have to worry about parking or your parcels, because the automated valet and storage make life a bit easier. Plus the concierge team will probably remember your favorite coffee order after the first week or so.

Chelsea itself is always buzzing – art galleries, pop up shops, the High Line is right there for walks when you need a break. Sometimes in the evening I'd see kids biking past or neighbors walking dogs with coffee in hand. It's New York but it doesn't feel too hectic.

Honestly these apartments do not come up often and when they do, it feels kind of special just to see one. The only way to really know if this feels like home is to come see it for yourself. If you want to ask questions or just have a walk through, let me know any time. At LuxuryProperty.com, we want this to be a move that feels easy, not just another transaction.
