Top Pet-Friendly Apartments in Dubai
When looking for a home, it isn’t always enough to find a space that suits you, your spouse or your children. You need your four-legged friends to be comfortable too. Of course, Dubai has plenty of lavish villa communities that are ideal for homeowners with pets. But there are also quite a few apartment buildings that are very accommodating to pets, some of them very close to dog parks and green spaces. Below are some of the most pet-friendly areas of Dubai where you can find the perfect apartment.
Known as a haven of nature and greenery in Dubai, it’s no surprise that Al Barari is perfect for animals and animal lovers. There are two apartment complexes in this community - Ashjar and Seventh Heaven - and both of them let you have pets. If your pets prefer to stay indoors, they have plenty of indoor space to explore as the apartments in Al Barari are very spacious. And if you need to take the dog for a walk, there is no better area to do that as you have a wealth of parks, gardens and landscaped trails surrounding you.
As one of the key urban districts in Dubai with a sprawl of towering apartment blocks and office buildings, Business Bay does not at first glance seem to be the friendliest place for pets. However, there are several buildings in this area that allow pets to be kept, and are accompanied by open squares and gardens. And you also have the option of going over to the Dubai Canal and taking a stroll along the boardwalk, enjoying the waterfront atmosphere.
One of the most prestigious areas in Dubai is also one of the best areas for pets. The heart of Downtown (where you will find the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Dubai Opera) includes the gorgeous Burj Park, which is an ideal spot for pet owners. You also have the beautiful Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, which winds its way around the district, and there are buildings with dog parks located near the border of Downtown and the neighbouring Business Bay.
One of Dubai’s most popular residential communities, Dubai Marina offers plenty of pet-friendly options. Unfortunately the heart of the district - the 7 km Marina Walk - is no longer accessible for pets (a step that had to be taken due to irresponsible pet owners leaving messes behind), so it’s more suited for smaller, indoor pets. Though if you want to take your dog for a walk, there is a large grassy area on the northeastern corner of the Marina (near Zero Gravity) where they can stretch their legs.
Dubai Motor City
Motor City is a charming community of low-rise apartment blocks that features plenty of greenery and a lot of walking space. It features a villa neighbourhood known as Green Community, but even outside of that, you have a space that is quite accommodating for pedestrians of both the two-legged and four-legged variety. The neighbouring area of Sports City has a few pet-friendly buildings as well, and if you are looking at a villa or townhouse option, then there is always Victory Heights.
Jumeirah Lakes Towers
This sprawling neighbourhood gives you an abundance of space to walk around explore, with three-star shaped lakes at its centre and corresponding waterfront promenades. You will also find parks, outdoor gyms and jogging trails around the area in case you want to have a quick workout with your furry friends in tow. Be aware, though, that the main JLT park is a dog-free zone, so you will need to adjust your itinerary accordingly.
There is no better place to enjoy a lovely seaside stroll with the family dog than on Palm Jumeirah. If you live in one of the stunning villas on the Palm’s fronds, then you have incredible stretches of private beach and spacious backyards to enjoy, but even the apartment complexes on the island are well-suited for pets. And if that’s not exercise enough, then you can go up to the Palm Boardwalk that spans the sweeping Palm Crescent.
