There is something about the easy life in Southern France that gets into your bones the minute you arrive. This villa in Grimaud near St Tropez really brings that feeling to life. Standing outside, the air has a softness to it, mixed with the scent of lavender somewhere close by. It actually reminded me of all those good summer days when sunset just stretches on a bit longer than you expect. The property sits just outside the lively port of St Tropez so the energy of the town is always waiting if you want it, but honestly I found myself slowing down here.
Walking into the house it just feels calm and steady, you get views through the windows at every turn and sometimes you almost forget you are indoors because the greenery seems to pull you back outside. The living room is open but somehow not too big. It is the sort of place where you imagine actually reading a book after dinner. The kitchen does not just look the part either. Standing by the counters with all the sunlight pouring in, you get the sense that people do a lot more than just reheat meals around here. You can picture picking up some fresh bread and cheese from the local market in the village and putting something simple but great on the table. The village itself is full of surprises. There are cobbled lanes you end up wandering by accident just trying to find the best bakery. I stood next to the old Romanesque church for a minute and looked up at the castle on the hill and thought this place just has layers.
Back at the villa there are three bedrooms with a pretty special master that opens out onto a big balcony. When you pull the doors open in the morning you get a real French Riviera sunrise and sometimes there are birds in the trees just below. The balcony is one of those spaces that you end up using for everything coffee after you wake up or a long chat in the cool evening. The other bedrooms are spacious and you can tell they have been made for people who stay a while. Kids maybe or friends who end up visiting every summer.
Probably my favourite part is outside. The lawn just keeps going and it actually feels private thanks to all the hedges and trees. You could play boules or have a big picnic without anyone looking in. If you have kids they can run all day here and sometimes in the evenings you hear laughter from the gardens next door. The swimming pool catches the sun most of the day and there is a pool house that works just as well for shade as it does for a lazy lunch with wine that goes on for a couple hours. You might catch yourself postponing plans in St Tropez for one more swim just because it feels so good to be here.
There is plenty of parking so family and friends can drop in whenever and a proper garage for the classic car if you have one. Even with all this space it never feels lonely. It is close enough to St Tropez that you can drive in for dinner or spend the day at the beaches but when you come back over the hill the village really slows everything down. You end up running into the same faces at the café and the coffee is always strong.
I could keep describing it but it really is one of those places you feel more than you explain. If you want to see if it fits for you, just let me know and we can go and look together. We are always here to help at LuxuryProperty.com and happy to answer any questions or show you around whenever it suits. Sometimes you just have to walk through to know if you can see yourself here.
