Dubai Harbour – The New Face of Waterfront Luxury

From the days of fishing and pearl diving along Dubai Creek to the development of man-made island communities, like the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Dubai has developed a strong waterfront tradition. Dubai Harbour, a new mixed-use development announced at the start of last year, aims to redefine the concept of waterfront living in the city.

The 20 million square foot project will be nestled between the highly popular beachfront destinations of Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach Residences. As befits the size and scale of Dubai’s ambitions, the project will include a vibrant mix of high-end residential buildings, commercial space, entertainment options and the Dubai Lighthouse, a 135-meter tower with an observation deck offering 360° ocean panoramas.

Designed, in part, to enhance Dubai’s maritime tourism profile, Dubai Harbour will contain two cruise terminals, each measuring over 150,000 sq ft and able to hold 6,000 passengers at a time, with an expected 1.2 million passengers expected to pass through every year. It will also be home to the largest marina in the region, with 1,400 docking berths that can accommodate private yachts up to 85 meters long.

Dubai Harbour is being developed by Meraas, who know a thing or two about creating unforgettable entertainment destinations. They have seen great success with City Walk and Box Park, two trendy neighborhoods in Dubai’s upscale Jumeirah district. La Mer South, another of their exciting beachfront projects, opened its first phase toward the end of 2017, featuring a boardwalk and residential plots. The next phase, with more residences and a waterpark, is expected to be ready later this year.

Emaar, another of Dubai’s most eminent property developers, will also be making their mark on Dubai Harbour. With renowned destinations such as the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and the Dubai Opera but a few of the feathers in their cap, it is understandable that their latest project, known simply as Emaar Beachfront, has garnered considerable excitement already.

Sitting on one end of Dubai Harbour and taking up roughly half of its surface area, Emaar Beachfront is a luxury development split into high-rise beachfront apartments and a five-star hotel. The Address Hotels and Resorts, who have collaborated with Emaar on several Downtown properties, will be operating both halves of this new project as well. The apartments will range from one to three bedrooms, and will be complemented by world-class fitness, wellness and leisure facilities.
