UAE National Day Activities
We are looking forward to a long weekend on the occasion of the UAE’s 47th National Day, which falls on the 2nd of December. Every weekend provides the opportunity to discover an exciting new experience in Dubai, though this holiday is especially significant as it coincides with one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Here are the best ways to spend this long weekend in Dubai.
Top 4 Things To Do On UAE National Day
1. Dubai Rugby Sevens | 2. La Mer |
3. Golf | 4. Fireworks |
1. Dubai Rugby Sevens

The Dubai Rugby Sevens dates back to 1970, making it a Dubai fixture for almost 50 years. Held at the Sevens Stadium, this thrilling tournament is perhaps the highlight of Dubai’s event calendar. Aside from all of the sporting action, you can expect a great time for the whole family, with plenty of activities for the children, food stalls and an exciting lineup of musical performances. The latter will be even more prominent this year, as the event will host the first ever Sevens Music Festival.
2. La Mer

Since it opened late last year, La Mer has become one of the most popular destinations in the city. You can spend a day at the beach or while away your afternoon exploring the La Mer boardwalk, an expansive waterfront retail and dining area that is reminiscent of the famous Pier 39 in San Francisco. The boardwalk also provides you access to Laguna Waterpark, which features a variety of rides for all ages. Perhaps the biggest attraction at the park is the WaveOz 180, a surf machine that is the only one of its kind in the Middle East and one of just three units available worldwide.
3. Golf

Dubai is one of the world’s leading golf havens, with several world-class courses to its name. You can spend the weekend teeing off at the Emirates Golf Club, which contains the first grass golf course in the Middle East, or the neighbouring Address Montgomerie, with a course designed by Colin Montgomerie and world-class services provided by the Address Hotels. You could also opt for the expansive Arabian Ranches Golf Course, surrounded by beautiful green vistas and one of the best family communities in the UAE. Another fine option is Jumeirah Golf Estates, home to not one but two world-class courses – Fire and Earth – designed by Greg Norman. The latter hosts the DP World Tour Championship, which takes place every November. Or you might opt for the brand new Dubai Hills Golf Course, set to become the city’s premier golfing destination.
4. Fireworks

Any celebration in Dubai is a good occasion to enjoy a brilliant fireworks display. On National Day weekend, you can enjoy fireworks in a number of key areas. La Mer, which we mentioned previously, will be having two nights of fireworks followed by a free concert. You can also catch spectacular displays on The Beach at JBR, Dubai Festival City and the waterfront area of Al Seef. If you happen to live on Palm Jumeirah or in the neighbouring areas of Dubai Marina or JBR, you can catch all of the action from your balcony or rooftop terrace while avoiding the holiday crowds.
