The Westly, Luxury Condominiums in Manhattan's Upper West Side

6 January 2022 Written by Staff Writer

The buzzing Upper West Side of Manhattan is getting ready to welcome a brand new era of luxury courtesy of The Westly, a 20-storey condominium building that was recently rebranded by SERHANT, the luxury brokerage run by New York celebrity broker Ryan Serhant. They have also taken over all of the marketing and sales for the project.

ODA Architecture, an innovative architectural firm based in New York, has conceptualized the design of The Westly, which makes a bold style statement in the neighbourhood. It features a unique cantilevered design and according to Eran Chen, Founding Principal of ODA Architecture, the building ‘grows as it ascends’. The rooftop is the widest part of The Westly, giving residents access to larger spaces, more picturesque views and a stunning rooftop pool. This is ‘something almost inconceivable in other buildings in the Upper West Side,’ says Chen. Limestone is used extensively in the design of the façade, paying homage to the rich architectural history of the area and its timeless DNA. Art Deco flourishes in the window mullions draw inspiration from older surrounding buildings and the smooth limestone is punctuated with a textural element that mirrors the look of New York’s classic brownstones.

There are a total of 57 residences at The Westly, ranging from two to five bedrooms – there are a select number of four-beds that include a home office, plus two highly exclusive penthouses. The layouts are exceptionally vast with clearly defined spaces separated by corridors and foyers - echoing a pre-war design that is much appreciated by residents of the Upper West Side. This gives The Westly more appeal amongst a wider segment of residents – singles, couples and larger families will all have more than enough living space to meet their needs. Each unit in the building is the epitome of modern sophistication with a design style that is light and airy, featuring oversized windows, plank oak floors and beautiful marble finishes in the kitchens and bathrooms. The kitchens come fitted with integrated Gaggenau appliances for a full gourmet experience, while the primary bedrooms are designed to accommodate king-sized beds and feature spa-like bathrooms and cavernous walk-in closets. A few of the four-bedroom units include home offices as well, perfect for a remote working setup and easily customizable into a family room or alternative space.

Luxury is not just about the living spaces, though. At The Westly you get to enjoy a signature lifestyle that is akin to being a member of a private club. This is immediately apparent from the moment you walk into the building and step into the double-height lobby with elegant marble flooring and a winding stone-clad staircase. The entire second floor of the building is dedicated to amenities, a clever design choice that gives these rooms a view of the treeline and creates a more immediate connection to the neighbourhood. As a resident of The Westly, you have access to a soundproof music room that has recording equipment and some instruments set up, a game room with dual flatscreen TVs and a ping pong table, a playroom with a ball pit and a technology area, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and yoga studio, as well as a resident lounge with comfortable seating and a shared kitchen. Above it all sits the rooftop pool surrounded by a spacious deck and offering breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline. Residents also have access to 24-hour concierge service, pet grooming services, private storage and bike storage.

Among the other fantastic benefits of living at The Westly is its excellent location. The Westly sits just off one of the most well-known attractions in the Upper West Side neighbourhood - Broadway. Known for its elegant townhouses and apartment buildings as well as its culinary and cultural diversity, the Upper West Side offers residents an upscale lifestyle and easy access to two of the city’s best green spaces in Riverside Park and Central Park. Whether you are looking to grab a quick bite or to enjoy a lavish fine dining meal, you can find several eateries nearby, located along Broadway and Columbus, and Amsterdam Avenues. Chief among them are Michelin-starred restaurants such as Jean-Georges, Boulud Sud, and Per Se, along with a few local favourites that include Carmine’s, The Mermaid Inn, and Jacob’s Pickles. Aside from Broadway, lovers of arts and culture will love being in proximity to Lincoln Center, New York City Ballet and Beacon Theater. Visiting the American Museum of Natural History is a must for every New Yorker, and both Riverside and Central Parks are ideal for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. The Upper West Side also boasts world-class educational institutions like The Julliard School, Columbia and Fordham Universities, as well as notable private schools like Trinity and Collegiate.
