The View at the Palm - A Breathtaking Experience
In 2021, the Palm Jumeirah turns 15 and like every teenager, it is continuing to grow and mature each day. The man-made island (or archipelago, to be accurate) was once seen as an impossible dream, an idea that seemed more at home in a science fiction novel than one that was rooted in reality. Yet, defying the odds, construction on the gargantuan 61.6 million square foot project was started in 2001 as Dubai took its first steps into the new millennium, with the first homes on the island handing over five years later. Since then, Palm Jumeirah has grown to be one of the most prime pieces of property in Dubai thanks to its combination of villas. One of the latest additions to the community is the Palm Tower, which is expected to officially open in October 2021. The tower comprises 432 residences, a 290-room hotel, one of Dubai’s highest infinity pools and an observation deck, with each component opening at different points throughout the year.

1. Unending Panoramas
The first part of the tower to open was the observation deck, officially known as The View at the Palm, which began welcoming visitors from the 7th of April. A glass-domed structure sitting atop the tower at a height of 240 metres, The View truly does live up to its name, looking out over a 360-degree panorama that is nothing short of breathtaking. Along one side, you have a full view of the Palm itself, stretching all the way back to the mainland and flowing back towards Burj Al Arab. Let your gaze wander further and you will see Downtown Dubai in the far distance, with the piercing spire of the Burj Khalifa towering over everything else. On the other side you have the incredible skyline of Dubai Marina with its towering skyscrapers, and as your line of sight shifts further northwest you will find the stunning Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island area filling your vision. Look fully to the north and you have the apex of the sweeping Palm Crescent spread out before you, offering views over the Atlantis, the upcoming Atlantis, The Royal Residences, and the shimmering Arabian Sea beyond all of that.
2. Awe-Inspiring from Top to Bottom
The View is accessible from Nakheel Mall at the base of the tower, analogous to the ‘At the Top’ experience at the Burj Khalifa that can be accessed from the Dubai Mall. The entrance, located on the second floor, features an aquarium and a gift shop, as well as a Starbucks - perfect for giving yourself that boost of adrenaline before going up or steadying your heartbeat after you come back down.
If you feel like indulging in a bit of history, then you can check out The View Exhibition, an interactive experience with touchscreens and wall displays that tell the story of the Palm Jumeirah. You can learn about how this iconic landmass was conceptualised, constructed and transformed into stunning reality. There is a timeline that shows the development of the Palm up to the present day, which reflects not only how the island has grown, but the entire city. Group tours can be booked, including tours for schools that start with the Exhibition and work their way up.

An elevator fitted with interactive screens takes you up to the 52nd floor in just 45 seconds, which is a jaw-dropping experience in itself as you rise rapidly above the island, and the entirety of its panoramas open up in front of you.
3. Memorable Experiences
It’s not just about the observation deck, though - The View offers plenty of other options to make your visit unforgettable. At its heart is a private glass-walled lounge spanning nearly 1,300 sq ft - about the size of a two-bedroom apartment. The lounge can be booked for private events, with a selection of beverages on offer, gourmet catering options, high-quality audio and video equipment, and wireless internet. Whether you are hosting a grand celebration or a more intimate gathering, it will take on a whole new dimension with the dizzying views on all sides. Looking for a unique venue to propose to your significant other? The View offers a special package for proposals, which can be customized to be as simple or as lavish as you want it to be.

On Tuesday and Friday mornings, The View hosts yoga sessions from 7am to 8am. There is no better way to start your day and feel at peace with the world than to take in a few deep breaths as you watch the sun slowly bathe the city in its warm glow.
4. Palm Tower - What's Next?
A month after the opening of The View, St. Regis the Palm opened its doors. The latest addition to the five-star St. Regis brand occupies the lower 18 floors of the tower and has some fantastic lifestyle offerings. You can pamper yourself at the Iridium Spa, relax by one of two infinity pools while sipping a drink from the pool bar, or enjoy a gourmet meal at seafood-focused signature restaurant Cordelia. The hotel pays tribute to Caroline Astor (mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV) with ladies-only venue Her by Astor, which offers a modern, locally inspired spin on her elegant afternoon tea ritual.
Also slated to open this year are Aura Skypool Lounge and SUSHISAMBA, and we can expect to see the first residences starting to hand over by the time Expo 2020 begins in October.

5. Aura Skypool Lounge
Spread out over the 50th floor of the tower, Aura will be one of the highest infinity pools in the world and the only 360-degree infinity pool in Dubai. The pool deck will give you the sensation of swimming through the clouds, while the relaxed lounge and bar will be the perfect space to unwind over drinks while enjoying an enviable view of the sunset.
6. SUSHISAMBA
Sandwiched neatly between Aura and The View, SUSHISAMBA will offer a delectable fusion of Brazilian, Peuvian and Japanese cuisine in an elegant and stylish atmosphere. The contemporary decor is enhanced by unique touches that give it the look of an urban rainforest. And of course, no restaurant in Palm Tower would be complete without the view, which you can enjoy courtesy of a full window wall framing the space.
7. The Residences
The Palm Tower features a total of 432 residences divided into apartments. Occupying Levels 19 to 47 of the tower, they are all fully furnished and benefit from stylish design and impeccable finishes. Residents of the Palm Tower can expect to start moving in starting from October 2021. The Dubai Expo, which will also commence at around that time, is less than a half hour’s drive away.

In the past 15 years, Dubai has built several wondrous communities such as Dubai Hills Estate, Pearl Jumeirah and Jumeirah Bay Island. Yet, Palm Jumeirah continues to hold the city in its thrall with attractions such as Nakheel Mall, The Pointe Mall and the Palm Boardwalk. The Palm Tower provides yet another reason to be in awe of the record-breaking island, and only goes to show that some places get better with age.
