Some places are just on another level and honestly Villa Cullinan feels like that the moment you see it. Not many homes really make you slow down and take a breath but I actually found myself just standing in the main hall here for a while looking out at the green hills and the sea way in the distance with one of those quiet moments you only get in a house this special. I think it is hard to picture how huge it is until you are actually walking the halls. The villa sits in La Zagaleta which everyone around Marbella just knows as the spot if you want total privacy but still want to be close enough to the city that you pop over for dinner or to the beach. Pulling into the estate you notice how peaceful it feels. There are trees everywhere and the air really is just a bit fresher up here.
So Villa Cullinan is big, there is no getting around that. It has this bright white architecture that somehow feels both modern and inviting. Sunlight pours in from these incredible glass walls and honestly you might barely notice if you have not seen anything like that before. People sometimes call this place the diamond house and you do see why. The first thing I noticed was just how open it feels. You walk in and right away the space opens up into these living rooms and lounges that just flow into each other. I stood by one of the floor to ceiling windows for a while just watching the trees move in the wind. There is an elegance but also a real warmth here. The kitchen is the sort of place you would actually want to cook with a proper coffee machine tucked away. There is a huge marble island if you like to bake or just want a place for everybody to gather while you make breakfast on a weekend. It does not feel too showy. More like it would just be easy to live here.
You will notice every bedroom feels a little like a private suite in a boutique hotel. The master bedroom upstairs looks out over the garden and the sea beyond and I could imagine waking up and actually wanting to open the curtains first thing just for that view. All ten bedrooms come with their own little touches. Some have those quiet reading corners looking out to the hills others open right out to terraces with just sky and trees. If you have family or guests there is even a separate apartment so nobody is ever on top of each other.
What is also surprising is how tucked away Villa Cullinan feels but you are really only a short drive from Marbella town centre Puerto Banus and of course the sea itself. Locals say you can get to some of the best Andalusian restaurants in ten minutes but honestly with views like this you might just end up inviting friends over instead. The wellness area is a place you really will use and not just show off to guests. I almost wanted to just sit and let the morning drift by with the steam rising in the Turkish bath. There is a heated indoor pool for the cooler days plus a huge gym with actual windows that let the sun come in while you work out so no more dark basement gyms. Outside the garden wraps right around the house and you can just imagine long afternoons by the infinity pool. You usually see kids cycling around the community in the afternoon or families taking their dogs for walks so it never feels lonely.
Nothing about this home is boring but it is also not overwhelming or cold. It feels balanced. Luxurious for sure but in a comforting way. La Zagaleta gives you that secure feeling day or night. Sometimes people say it is almost too quiet but after an hour here it sort of grows on you. The only real way to know if Villa Cullinan is right for you is to come and wander a little maybe stand by those big windows and see if it just fits.
