Loft Living at Jumeirah Beach Residence

29 March 2020 Written by Arpan

There is an undeniable charm to living in a loft apartment. You get an incredible amount of living space for what is typically a one or two-bedroom unit, accompanied by large windows that bathe the interiors in light and on that same front, some truly incredible views to wake up to every morning.

With a point of origin sometime in the 60’s, when there was a significant cultural revolution taking place, lofts started out as old industrial buildings that were reconverted for residential use and were especially popular with artists and popular bohemian figures of the time. Since then, this type of apartment has become associated with the idea of a contemporary urban lifestyle. It is a home for the jet setters and young professionals who want a space that carries with it an undeniable style quotient.

Lofts typically command a higher price than their regular counterparts, in large part because of the extra space that they offer and the additional maintenance required for that space. The beauty of a city like Dubai, however, is that lofts, especially the ones listed below, are quite well-priced and are on par with similar units across the city. You get the space and cool factor of a loft without paying a hefty sum for it - what could be better?

The apartment has been extensively upgraded by the owner, including the installation of hardwood flooring in all of the rooms and a very stylish kitchen with appliances courtesy of AEG and Electrolux. The resulting look is one that carries echoes of industrial design (an appropriate choice for a loft) with the sleek and warm feel of modern Sacndinavian design, which is especially evident in stylistic touches such as the floating staircase and wood-finished bedroom closets.

Another renovated two-bedroom unit, this loft offers a generous 1,736 sq ft of space and is located in the six-tower Murjan cluster. Like the previous entry on the list, this apartment also boasts a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic with wood flooring throughout contrasted by pristine white walls and dark metal fixtures. The predominant use of white helps to brighten up the interiors, especially when sunlight streams in through the double-height windows. The contemporary vibe that it adds to the loft is just an added bonus. This is especially evident in the kitchen, which has the pristine look of a room in a home catalog, and is complemented by top-of-the-line Smeg appliances.

This loft is also part of the Bahar cluster, comprising two bedrooms, an area of almost 2,000 sq ft and a design aesthetic that would readily fit into Soho or one of the other bohemian neighbourhoods of New York City. The hardwood floors are swapped out for polished tile, the kitchen rustic wooden counters and stunning black cabinetry, and the bedrooms on the upper level of the loft are separated from the living area by a floor-to-ceiling glass partition that adds a bit more privacy to the space. The kitchen isn’t fully open either, using a breakfast counter as a boundary between itself and the living area.

This stunning two-bedroom apartment, also located in the Bahar cluster, truly carries the spirit of New York with it. The design is simple yet vibrant, making use of light and dark neutral hues, and the living space is spread over a very comfortable 1,819 square feet. The living room flows seamlessly into an informal dining setup and a kitchen with gorgeous black cabinetry, an island worktop and high-quality appliances. One bedroom is located on the same level as the living room, while the master bedroom sits up top. With a separate dressing room and marble-finished master bath, this is probably one of the cosiest places you can call home.

The demand for loft living is always very high across the city, and these are ideal pied-a-terres for enjoying your summer, or indeed Dubai’s very fine winters. The residential clusters at JBR sit on a wide podium that is filled with shops, service outlets and a dedicated supermarket to serve residents. A boardwalk runs along the ground level with a wide selection of restaurants, and the beach is spread out just on the other side of it. Loft living at JBR gives you the stylistic touches of a New York lifestyle within gorgeous surroundings that are unmistakably Dubai.
