BackA new era of live entertainment will dawn Dubai’s theater scene with the onset of La Perle by Dragone, a sensational aqua-themed spectacle conceived and produced by the legendary and world-renowned artistic director Franco Dragone. Presented by Al Habtoor Group, La Perle Dubai is set as the region’s first theatrical residency to be held at The Atrium. The magnificent five-storey multi-use complex is nestled among the grandiose luxury apartments at the latest leisure destination, Al Habtoor City.

It seems the revered Dubai Opera is about to meet its competition with La Perle, a Las Vegas-style theater show, never-before-seen in the Middle East. La Perle will feature stellar, breathtaking visual arts and a cast of 65 world-class artists from 23 countries, each demonstrating their talents in performing jaw-dropping and gravity-defying aqua and aerial feats. The graceful and fearless artists will showcase remarkable acrobatic skills and circus-style stunts, all assisted by 70 specialist technicians known for their mastery in administering a scrupulous production of this magnitude. Stars swinging and flying at impressive heights and diving into the pit (the center part of the stage filled with water), accompanied by mind-blowing and stunning imagery await the audience, creating an out-of-this-world experience they will never forget.
Franco Dragone described La Perle as his ‘most awe-inspiring and technically advanced theatre production’ as evidenced by the state-of-the-art aqua theater, which has been tailor-made with a one-of-a-kind, 270-degree view stage design and a cutting-edge technology. With the use of powerful hydraulic lifts and fountains, the stage can be filled with 2.5 million liters of water within minutes, transforming it from a dry platform into an aquatic stage. This monumental theater can host 1,300 seating, purposely built to give the audience an intimate and exceptionally immersive experience all throughout the 90-minute show.
La Perle Dubai opened at the end of August and will run 450 performances year-round, as the centerpiece and soul of the emerging Al Habtoor City. Primarily influenced by Dubai’s rich culture and history, this phenomenal show will truly mirror the grace and spirit of Arabia.
Franco Dragone
Famed for breaking the limits of performing arts, Franco Dragone is the mastermind behind a series of momentous shows including A New Day with Celine Dion and Le Reve, both in Las Vegas and The House of Dancing Water in Macau, a first-of-its-kind in Asia. Drawing inspiration from the events of his childhood and the torments and reveries of the people around him, Dragone fashioned these shows into arresting works of art that have captivated audiences from different parts of the globe.
Prior to these superb achievements, Dragone served a significant role in heartening Cirque de Soleil’s international reputation by signing up as the show’s Creative Director in the 1980’s and 90’s. From then on, it catapulted his name as one of the world’s most sought-after artistic directors distinguished for his extraordinary creative visions. His prominence in the industry caught the attention of Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Group, which led to the conception of La Perle.
Today, Dragone, his fully established cultural company, well known for embracing local cultures, hosts a collection of brilliant shows namely Lido – Paris Merveilles in Paris, France; The Han Show in Wuhan, China; and The Dai Show in Xishuangbanna, China.
