Jumeirah Lake Towers, commonly known as JLT, is one of the busiest neighborhoods in Dubai; and for good reason. The stunning waterfront residences overlook the lake promenades - offering idyllic views to residents all year round. Consistently ranked as one of the best value apartments to live in Dubai, JLT is the centerpiece of Dubai’s growing real estate market. In this blog, we will read in detail about JLT and what’s on offer in its surrounding areas.

The Jumeirah Lake Tower project was undertaken by Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC). Construction began in early 2006, with Saba Tower being the first to be launched. As of present, more than 90% of the construction has been completed, and residents enjoy all the perks offered by the project. The area consists of highrise skyscrapers divided into 26 clusters - each named after English alphabets; and each having 3 buildings.

 

As a waterfront project, JLT is purposefully built around four man-made lakes, and a designated parkland area. The community appeals mostly to a younger demographic who want luxury and convenience at a reasonable price point.

JLT is surrounded by several supermarkets. The most common ones are Carrefour, West Zone, Fresh Berry and Zoom supermarkets. Moreover, one will find a number of independent stores dotted all over the community. For a visit to a hypermarket, Waitrose in Dubai Marina is the closest.

For Muslim residents, finding a mosque is quite easy as there are plenty in each cluster, with most of them holding congregational prayers. Other than that, the Tiffany Mosque in Tiffany Tower is best suited for large congregations like Eid. Christians can drive up to Jebel Ali to find several churches. Followers of Sikhism will find the Gurunanak Darbar in the same neighborhood; while Hindu residents can head to Bur Dubai, which is home to quite a few temples.

Almost all clusters of JLT have nurseries. The most prominent ones are Dewdrops Nursery, Learning Ladders, Paddington Nursery, Kid Kare Nursery, Oakfield Early Learning Center and several others. For schools, Emirates International School is only a 15 minutes’ drive away. For more options, the nearby area of Al Barsha is home to schools such as King School Al Barsha and American School of Dubai.

JLT has impressive higher education institutions in and around the area; including the Modul University that is affiliated with the Austrian board of education in One Tower. Also present is the Dubai chapter for the Russian based Synergy University. Many other institutions are located in Knowledge Park, which is at a distance of approximately 10 minutes.

With a residential population of more than 50,000, JLT has healthcare facilities across all clusters. These include Armada Medical Center, which is part of the Armada Group in Cluster P. A Life Medical Center operates out of Cluster V, Aster Medical Center in Red Diamond Building, Dr. K Medical Center in Cluster F and Optimum Diagnostic Clinic in Cluster X. Hospitals that are close to JLT include Mediclinic Meadows in the Meadows; while the Saudi German Hospital and Al Zahra Hospital are located in Al Barsha.

The relaxed and casual vibe is an ever-present theme in JLT. Benches, promenades and beaches are all nearby for people to sit, talk and destress. For those who like crowded places, the Dubai Marina Mall has a curated selection of brands, while the popular Mall of Emirates and Ibn Battuta Mall are at a distance of 10 and 15 minutes respectively.

For dining, JLT is visited by people from all over Dubai as the vibrant community has an eclectic mix of casual and fine dining options. You have the options to try the flavors of the world - including Vietnamese cuisine, Sri Lankan delicacies, Latin food and European meals. Renowned eateries include Mythos, Wokyo Noodle Bar, Nola’s Eatery and Social House, and plenty of lounges and bars at the Bonnington Hotel in Cluster J. In Cluster I, there’s even an institute that teaches culinary arts by the name of SCAFA.

Beach lovers don’t have to go that far to enjoy the sea, as the JBR beach is right across the road, and is at a drive of 5 minutes. Furthermore, an art gallery and a couple of exhilarating escape-room themed indoor adventure spots are located in Cluster X and N.

JLT benefits from its exceptional location, which is close to the main Sheikh Zayed Road highway, and serves as an arterial network of transportation for the city. Other nearby places include the posh communities of Meadows, The Springs and Jumeirah Park. Furthermore, JLT is at a distance of 30 minutes from Dubai International Airport; while it takes about 5-10 minutes to reach Media City and DIFC.
