Summer is not yet upon us in Dubai, but it's only a matter of time before sweltering temperatures put a stop to weekend BBQs and beach days, at least until September. There's still plenty to experience across the city, however, from within the comfort of four walls. Whether you are taking a trip to an indoor amusement park or enjoying a night at the theatre, here are the best indoor activities to enjoy in Dubai over the summer.

IMG Worlds of Adventure

Located in the Dubailand district, IMG Worlds of Adventure is home to some of the best rides and attractions in Dubai, such as the Forbidden Territory, the Predator and the Haunted Hotel. It is spread across five different zones, most of which is indoors and fully air-conditioned. Restaurants, retail areas and a cinema multiplex are also part of the park, making this the perfect family getaway for a fun-filled weekend before the school term begins.

One of the newest attractions at the Dubai Mall, VR Park is a theme park where every single ride is a virtual reality experience. From pulse-pounding vertical drops and roller coasters to action-packed shooting gallery adventures, once you put on the supplied headgear you will instantly be transported to a different world without having to go anywhere at all. iFly Dubai

Adrenaline junkies will want to check out Skydive Dubai and the XLine in Dubai Marina once the weather gets a little cooler, but for now you can experience the same type of rush at iFly Dubai in Mirdif City Centre. A 10-meter high wind tunnel propels you into the air, giving you the sensation of a free fall that lasts longer than a bungee jump. It is the world’s first double air tunnel and also the first to be inside a mall.

The Smash Room

Summer not relaxing enough for you? Do you have a lot of stress that needs to be worked out? Then you need to spend some time in the Smash Room. Located in the heart of the Al Quoz Industrial Area, the Smash Room has been stocked with old furniture and breakable items that you can destroy to your heart’s content releasing your inner demolitionist. If you have any old discard items (such as an unwanted present you would feel bad about regifting or an old laptop that’s beyond salvation), simply donate them to the Smash Room where they can go out in a blaze of glory.

In another month or so, the weather will be ideal for heading out to one of Dubai’s beautiful golf courses for a few rounds. For now, you can try out the Glowing Rooms at Jumeirah Beach Residence, a mini golf course like no other. The darkened rooms feature neon lighting and 3D lighting effects that project backgrounds onto the walls and floors, letting you practice your shots in the middle of the desert or at the bottom of a shimmering sea.

La Perle

La Perle

One of our personal favorites, La Perle at Al Habtoor City is always an excellent choice if you are looking for an evening of indoor entertainment. The grand theatrical performance, which features high-flying acrobatics and death-defying plunges into a specially designed aquatic stage, is a 90-minute thrill ride that you absolutely cannot miss.
