Business Bay is the commercial capital of Dubai. A thriving business and office hub located at the heart of the city, Business Bay is easily accessible from the main Sheikh Zayed Road highway, and connects readily to Dubai’s other major urban centres, by road and by metro.
In recent years, the district has seen increasing popularity as a residential area and is the site of several existing and upcoming luxury home developments. While the majority of Business Bay is dominated by glass-fronted skyscrapers, it is being further developed and beautified to make it a prime destination for residents and visitors alike, especially since the inauguration of the spectacular Dubai Water Canal.
There is a constant flow to Business Bay during the daytime, as young professionals file in and out of towering office buildings, head to and from meetings and explore corporate lunches at the many restaurants and hotels in the district. Evenings and weekends see an ebb in the office crowd as families take centre stage, enjoying the outdoor plazas of Bay Avenue or walks along the Canal promenade.
A shopping center built on the lower levels of the mixed-use Executive Towers complex, Bay Avenue is one of the key retail and dining destinations in Business Bay. It is a popular family spot, owing to the outdoor play areas, running tracks green spaces and open plazas that surround it.
This low-rise office complex is a breath of fresh air amidst the looming skyscrapers of the area, and is most notable for a wide variety of casual dining options and beautiful water features.
An extension of the historic Dubai Creek into the Business Bay and Jumeirah districts, the Dubai Water Canal has quickly established itself as one of the city’s most exciting attractions. Its banks will soon be home to the much-anticipated Al Habtoor City, and a massive retail and dining promenade is being developed around it.
Business Bay is home to several of Dubai’s leading five-star hotels, including the Taj Dubai, Oberoi Hotel, St. Regis Dubai, W Hotel and JW Marriott Marquis, which bears the distinction of being the tallest hotel in the world.
