Belgravia - The Wealthiest Districts in the World

18 April 2018 Written by Staff Writer

Classical architecture, stone structures, and elegant residences are what one would find surrounding the fashionable streets of Belgravia London. This chic district with a diverse atmosphere lies in West London and is shared within the boundaries of both the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

During the Middle Ages the area was originally known as Five Fields and as its name suggests, the land was a series of fields used for grazing and vegetation. The name Belgravia came from Richard Grosvenor’s (the 2nd Marquess of Westminster) property which was a village called Belgrave located in Cheshire.

In the early to mid 19th century, the Grosvenors undertook the task of developing most of Belgravia with the help of master builder Thomas Cubitt, who designed Belgrave Square and many of the other boulevards the district is known for.  The area turned out to be the height of fashion and style when titled aristocrats of the time started to move in.
London
Today, Belgravia is known as one of the wealthiest districts in the world with the most expensive and luxurious houses in London, consisting of multi-billion dollar homes and celebrity residences.
Belgravia’s Sloane Street and Elizabeth Street are renowned for offering a luxurious shopping experience with the worlds most sought after brands of top designers, artisans and boutiques lined up side by side. Although the district is commonly known for its glitz and glamor and its high-end streets, it’s not short of green spaces.

If you want to enjoy some quiet time surrounded by beautiful landscapes of evergreen trees and emerald grass then you can head to Chester Square, Ebury Square or the Belgrave Square Gardens which is a historic park with a tennis court.
