Burj Khalifa, Burj Khalifa Area, Downtown Dubai
Some homes catch you by surprise even before you get all the way inside. This two bedroom apartment in Burj Khalifa does that. I remember opening the door and the first thing I noticed was just how open and bright it feels up here. The ceiling is all glass at points or at least it seems like it. Floor to ceiling windows all the way along this gentle curve of the living and dining space. Honestly you can stand by the windows for ages and never get bored of the view. The city just spreads out forever underneath you and you almost forget you are in a building at all. Sometimes it is so quiet up here you only hear the hum of the city way down below.
The living and dining area just stretches itself out on one side so you have all this space for relaxing. It makes you want to drag your feet a bit just to take it in. The kitchen sits partly open just around the corner. It actually looks like somewhere you would want to cook for real, not just heat something up. Pretty sleek appliances, all built in and nothing feels out of place. It is nice that you can talk to people or keep an eye on the kids in the lounge while you are making dinner. You can imagine hosting friends or just having a quiet meal while you watch the lights flicker across Downtown Dubai. Sometimes you see the fountains from here or a little bit of the Opera if you look the right way.
Both bedrooms are off to the side away from where you'd have people over. Makes it feel private. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is honestly just practical and saves everyone a bit of awkwardness. And I have to say the wood floor is brand new and it gives off a nice warmth even in a place that is all glass and steel outside. I put my hand down at one point and it was just smooth clean wood all the way through both bedrooms and the living space. No creaks or cold spots.
Being in Burj Khalifa is something special all on its own. Some buildings in Dubai have amenities but this tower just takes things up a notch. There are a few gyms depending on your mood and a swimming pool that actually makes you want to get in and stay there for a while. Up on the one hundred twenty third floor there is this resident lounge that feels like a club no one else in the world knows about. People read there or catch up over coffee sometimes and you can see half the city from up there.
You are right in Downtown Dubai so all you have to do is head downstairs and you get direct indoor access straight to Dubai Mall. You do not even have to go outside which is pretty nice, especially on days when the sun is too much. The mall has just about everything from cafes to shops where you find things you did not even know you needed. Step outside the other way toward Burj Lake and the water is just there. Dubai Opera is less than five minutes by foot and some evenings you catch music floating back all the way to the tower.
Some nights you might stay home just to see the sky change color from every window. Other nights Downtown Dubai kind of pulls you outside for a walk. A lot of families live around here but honestly it stays peaceful most of the time and every now and then you hear laughter echo up from the boulevard.
If you want to know if it fits you, the only way is to walk through it yourself. That feeling you get on the twenty something floor is just different in person.
