The Residences 1, The Residences, Downtown Dubai
Some homes just seem to breathe a bit easier. When I walked into this three bedroom apartment at The Residences in Downtown Dubai, I could actually hear the sound of the fountains from the balcony if I stopped for a moment. What really struck me right away was how much light there is in here. Floor to ceiling glass in the main living space has a way of making everything feel bigger and more open but mostly it just feels bright from sunrise till evening. You get these endless views of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain plus you watch the city change colours as the day goes on. I think for anyone who ever wanted to live right in the centre but not feel crowded this is what that really means.
There are three bedrooms here and they all have a bit of quiet to them. The main one especially has its own bathroom with a shower and a tub and then there is a private balcony where you can stand and actually watch the world go by below. Sometimes you catch a glimpse of morning joggers below or people heading for coffee before work. Each bedroom feels bigger than you might expect and the closets are built in so you just tuck things away without even thinking about it. None of the spaces feel fussy or over designed. You can tell it was planned for real living.
The kitchen surprised me to be honest. Some apartments look great but you know you would just end up ordering takeout every night. This kitchen actually feels built for someone who might cook a proper dinner now and then. It has all the appliances you need neat cabinetry and everything tucks away so it always feels tidy. From the kitchen you can see right through to the living area and out towards that huge view. It is easy to picture friends gathered round or just an easy breakfast with the newspaper open on the counter.
And with over two thousand square feet you are not bumping into furniture all the time. There is a sense of softness to the way the rooms link up. Sometimes you almost forget your phone because you just want to look around. There is enough space for dining and a bit more relaxed seating so you can rearrange things the way you want. Even the hallways feel wider than usual. You will find that the air conditioning actually works without being too cold and if you open the balcony doors in the evening there is a bit of a breeze that comes through.
Downstairs the lifestyle really starts to show. Residents at The Residences in Downtown Dubai get to use a swimming pool that actually gets the sun most of the day. The gym is surprisingly well equipped plus there is a play area where you sometimes see toddlers chasing each other in the afternoons. I watched a group of neighbours chat at the lobby as they waited for the elevator and it just felt easy here. You have direct access to the Boulevard so if you decide you want to walk to Dubai Mall or Souk Al Bahar or just try a new restaurant it is all just a few steps away.
The apartment is ready and vacant so you would not have to wait. It is unfurnished but honestly that is kind of nice because you can bring in exactly what works for you not worry about removing anything first. The rent is set at four hundred fifty thousand AED so it is right in line for this area and this much space.
You can look at the photos and check the views online but the only way to know if the space feels right is to come walk through at your own pace.
