Sometimes I walk into a place and right away I get this feeling that it could really be someone's home. You know the feeling I mean. It is not about being perfect or grand or even about having everything new but more about being somewhere that feels good the moment you cross the threshold. That is what happened to me the first time I visited this two bedroom at Vida Residences Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai. Maybe it was the way the light comes in through the big windows or how the sound from outside sort of softens the higher up you go. I just remember pausing and watching the city moving in the distance and thinking, this could work for someone who wants the energy of Downtown but also a bit of quiet at home.

The main living space just sort of opens up and there is more room than you expect. I leaned out by the window for a bit and looked at the Boulevard below. There is always something happening here so if you like that feeling of being somewhere central this could be a great spot. To be honest it is just so easy to imagine living here. You come in after work and drop your keys on the counter and maybe you throw together a simple meal in the kitchen. The kitchen itself does not feel like it is just for show which is nice. Sometimes these city apartments have kitchens you feel nervous to use but this one actually feels right for real cooking. And if you get tired of cooking there are so many restaurants downstairs and the coffee shop is literally right around the corner.

Both bedrooms are tucked away just enough for a bit of privacy and each has that calm vibe. It sounds simple but you will notice how well the curtains block out the city when you want a lazy morning. The closets are bigger than I expected too. I think there is plenty of space for your things unless you are a real collector of shoes. Bathrooms are clean lined and easy to take care of. They just make mornings feel easier. I stood in one of the showers and you do get that spa kind of feeling when the water warms up and the city is starting to wake up out there.

The balcony is honestly one of my favourite spots. Sometimes you can hear the soft hum of the city below and sometimes it is just you and the view. I kept thinking you could have a quiet breakfast here even if you are only half awake with your coffee. Or in the evening the place changes altogether with all the lights coming on. You get this amazing backdrop that only Downtown Dubai can give you.

Location is something I keep coming back to. With Vida Residences you are really close to Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. The fountains are a stroll away if you want to catch the show or just see people coming and going. The Metro is not far either so you can get almost anywhere in Dubai without much fuss. Actually you can get a lot done on foot if you want which anyone who lives in Downtown will say is a real plus. Sometimes I see families out for ice cream in the evenings or people just walking their dogs. It is that kind of place. You are in the heart of the city but you still get these little moments where it just feels like home.

At two hundred and fifty thousand dirhams a year this apartment sits about right for an address in Downtown. I think it gives you that special mix. You get comfort and you get connection to everything going on in Dubai. There is gym access too and a pool that feels like a little retreat from the pace below.
