Westgate House, London
Some places just make you slow down for a second when you walk in. This two bedroom penthouse at Westgate House in Ealing sets that tone right from the start. I remember stepping inside and the view pretty much pulls your attention straight through the living space and out to the terrace. You see London from a whole different angle up here. It was one of those afternoons where you get sunlight pouring in and it struck me how you could really spend a lot of time just being out on that long terrace. It is the sort of spot where you could invite a friend for coffee and actually have space to breathe, or maybe even just find yourself alone in the quiet with a book. The big glass doors from the living area slide open and suddenly inside and outside feel connected. For anyone who loves fresh air in the morning or chilled dinners in the evening, this terrace just works without trying too hard.
Once you are actually inside, you notice the privacy. There are two bedrooms, but they each feel tucked away in their own space. It is something you pick up on if you have ever lived in an apartment where sound travels too easily. The bedrooms here felt calming to me, probably because of soft flooring and walls that have warm tones, not those cold white walls you see everywhere. There is a sense that you could just get into bed and fall straight asleep or maybe sit and read with a cup of tea. Honestly, sometimes brand new properties can feel a little bit like they are for show. But here it actually feels like somewhere you can settle in for a while without needing to do much.
The furniture and layout have been thought through as well. There are no weird corners or spaces you would need to cover with extra furniture. It is all ready with a simple style that feels relaxed but still looks good. If you are someone who likes to spend time in the morning before work, the bathrooms stand out. The white marble tiles help to brighten things up and it just feels fresh, a bit more like a boutique hotel without being flashy. You can actually slow down and get ready without rushing past clutter.
The kitchen is definitely not an afterthought. It is a real kitchen with decent counter space and plenty of room to actually cook meals. You have all of your built in appliances right there, so it works whether you are hosting or just making something simple. I opened a few cupboards and the storage is better than most places around this part of London which actually matters if you ever find yourself accumulating kitchen gadgets or want to tuck things away out of sight.
One thing that kept coming up in my mind wandering through was how Westgate House does communal areas. The gym does not have that gym smell you sometimes get. It is ventilated and bright. Then you get the sauna and steam room, which people really do use after work, and sometimes you will find folks up on the communal terrace on the sixth floor just catching up in the evening. They even have a screening room attached so you could have a movie night or catch a big game with neighbours if you feel like being social. Downstairs, the lobby feels more like stepping into a nicely done hotel instead of a bland lobby. And the concierge here actually helps with the usual bits like parcels or letting guests in so it feels a little less stressful when life gets busy.
What you really notice about being here is the area itself. Ealing always surprises people who do not know it well. Sit on the terrace long enough and you will see kids biking by, people heading to local coffee shops and even folks coming back from the theatre on weekends. The building's location is close enough that grabbing a train or bus is no big deal and you are never far from a park if you need to clear your head.
I genuinely think if you are looking for a penthouse for sale in London, especially something with more of a liveable vibe, Westgate House deserves your time. It is one of those rare places where the city feels close but your home feels private and easy. Only way to really see if it fits is to come by. If you want to chat or just take a look for yourself, just give me a shout. At LuxuryProperty.com we want you to find somewhere that feels right, no rush.
