Westgate House, London
Some places in London just have a certain warmth when you step through the door and honestly this two bedroom apartment at Westgate House in Ealing hits that note right away. The very first time I walked in I found myself drifting over to the window just to take in the city outside. You expect the usual London noise and buzz but inside here there is a calm that sneaks up on you. The way this apartment is set up really works if you like feeling part of the city but also need that bit of peace.
The living area actually feels like a proper space where you will want to sit down and breathe after a long day. Light comes streaming through those big windows and fills the place right up so you never feel boxed in. Even the oak plank floors add a touch of proper home feeling underfoot and with the soft neutral colours all around it just feels settled. I picture someone tossing their keys down after work putting on the kettle or maybe curling up by the window to watch a rain shower. There is no fussiness about the space at all just the right kind of simple.
Now the kitchen is built for real life not just for glossy brochures. When I checked out the appliances you could tell they were all quality and properly fitted out right into the cabinetry. Nothing sticking out or looking awkward and you could actually see yourself making breakfast or throwing together dinner for friends. The way the kitchen flows into the dining and lounge area means you are always part of the conversation even if you are the one cooking. If you are the sort who likes to experiment with new menus or simply needs room to chop and stir this space is up for it. Plus you still keep sight of everyone else so there is that easy social vibe even at home.
In the mornings there is something special about the light and the skyline views from both bedrooms. You catch glimpses of early joggers down on Ealing Broadway or see the slow waking of the city beyond. Somehow up here in Westgate House you get the full London feel with a pocket of privacy that is hard to find. The main bedroom is honestly roomy enough for a big bed with plenty of space for wardrobes and it stays quiet even when you want a bit of fresh air with the window open. The second bedroom could easily be a work from home spot or a cosy space for guests. You will also notice that the sound just disappears inside which really does make it restful.
As for the building itself Westgate House has more than you would expect from most London apartments. The on site gym is one I have actually seen folks use early in the mornings and it is not just a token room with a treadmill. There is a spa downstairs which means you can take yourself for a steam or sauna after work with zero hassle. Maybe the best bit for me is the sky lounge up on the sixth floor. On a clear evening if you are lucky you get those light pink sunsets over the rooftops. It is a sweet spot to read or watch the skyline change and sometimes you notice neighbours catching up with a glass of wine up there as well. It all adds to a gentle community feel.
The screening room downstairs is honestly a surprise the first time. You do not find that everywhere in Ealing. I know a few people who have picked this building just because they can do movie nights without leaving home. Plus the concierge is super helpful so you never miss a package or have to juggle keys.
Living in Ealing really works for most people I have shown this to. The shops and coffee spots are always within reach and parks are never far so you get both city living and green space. After spending time here it really is clear why people settle in Westgate House.
If you want a London apartment that feels easy and really livable this two bedroom at Westgate House might be it. The best way to see if it suits you is honestly to just visit and get a sense in person.
