Aykon Nine Elms, Nine Elms, London
Some homes in London just have a way of making you take a breath and slow down for a second as soon as you step inside. This three bedroom apartment at Aykon Nine Elms really does that right away. I remember coming in and just pausing in the foyer. There was something about the Versace finishes and the way the sunlight drifted through those big windows that felt kind of special. You catch the city skyline out of the corner of your eye and suddenly the noise of London feels like it is on the other side of the glass. Honestly you could almost forget your phone for a minute or two.
There is a certain energy in Nine Elms these days. Every morning you see people with their dogs and a coffee walking along the street and there is usually a new bakery or flower shop that has popped up. This apartment puts you right in the middle of all that but when you are inside it just feels quiet. The living area is open plan and wide so you do not get that squeezed feeling you sometimes find in London apartments. You will notice little Versace details on the handles and the fixtures which are not loud or flashy but they are there if you look for them. If you like to cook you will appreciate the actual space in the kitchen and the way the counters feel like they were built for using not just for putting a fancy bowl of fruit on. I pictured friends standing around talking or just something simple like making pasta on a Sunday night.
The three bedrooms are proper bedrooms not those city spaces where you have to shuffle around the bed and hope for a closet. Here you get hardwood floors that are solid and smooth under your feet and wardrobes that are built in so the clutter just seems to melt away. The master bedroom is a place I would actually want to spend time in not just sleep. The master bath surprised me a bit. Marble everywhere cool and clean and you can tell the designers cared about how everything would feel when you touch it not just how it looks in a photo. Even the taps and the light switches have a bit of that Versace flavour tucked away.
Aykon Nine Elms is a new kind of building in London. Not some cold glass block but a place that tries to feel like a proper home with a bit of a wow factor. The gym is real not one of those rooms with an old treadmill and a broken mirror but a glass fronted gym where you can actually see the skyline while you work out. The pool is indoors and because of how it is designed you never feel like you are on display. The tiles are Versace too and it sounds like a small thing but if you like details you will smile. The private cinema downstairs is surprisingly cozy and actually gets you in the mood for a film or a football match. Up on the rooftop gardens you get a slice of sky all to yourself and once in a while you will spot boats on the Thames. It is really peaceful up there even though you can see the city all around.
For families or anyone who likes having a bit of room the kids play area actually has space for children to run around and be kids. Sometimes you hear laughter drifting up from there in the afternoons. The resident lounge is where you might find a neighbour reading or just hanging out over a coffee. I have noticed people here chat a bit in the lift which honestly makes it feel more like a community than just a building. The concierge team takes their job seriously but they are friendly and useful and after a couple of weeks they will probably know your name. Groceries delivered is normal. Help with housework or valet parking can be sorted with a call.
I guess what I am saying is this part of London is changing fast but this apartment feels like a kind of retreat without leaving the action. Dinner out is always close but so is just a quiet evening in your own space. Some people buy here for the Versace design or for the location but more often it is just the feeling that it is a real home. Three bedrooms a layout that makes sense and the details that matter.
Best is to come and walk through yourself just to see if it feels like home for you. If you want to know more or just want to talk about Nine Elms or this apartment let me know. At LuxuryProperty dot com we try to make your next step in London as comfortable as it can be. Always happy to help.
