SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, Business Bay
Some places sort of surprise you the second you walk in, even if you were expecting something special. This studio apartment in SLS Dubai Hotel and Residences just has that feeling. I stepped inside on a regular weekday and, honestly, there was a sort of calm even with all the energy from Business Bay below. The first thing I noticed was the space. Studios usually make you think of squeezing everything in, right? But here, it just feels easy and open, especially with those windows stretching out toward the skyline. When I stood by the balcony to take a better look, I could see almost all of Downtown Dubai spread out in front of me. You really do get these sweeping views that make you want to slow down and just watch the city.
You can always tell when something's been carefully finished. You see the tilework by Lea in here and it feels a bit like a boutique hotel in Milan. The kitchen actually feels like somewhere you'd cook for real, not just heat up takeout. The brands here are all names you see in good kitchens Hafele for the fittings, Franke in the sink and Shuco by the windows. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard. Even the way the storage is built in means you don't have to see clutter if you don't want to. I even opened every cupboard just to check.
What I like about this studio is how the balcony actually works for privacy. Sometimes in towers you get that hemmed in feeling with everybody looking in at everyone else. Here, they've angled things so you can just sit outside with a coffee and not have neighbours peering over. I could imagine mornings starting here, you hear a bit of city noise in the background but not too much. And sometimes you spot a bird or two just skimming across the sky. It feels somehow quiet for being so high up in Dubai.
Living in SLS Dubai Residences is almost like having all the perks of a five star hotel but being able to crash out in your own proper apartment. Residents get the full run of three pools, which sounds a bit much until you realise you can pick one depending on your mood. Gym is just downstairs and honestly it puts some regular club gyms to shame. There's also a spa that smells amazing every time I go past. Then if you want to have friends over or need a bigger space to work or hang out, there's a multipurpose room and lots of little corners for sitting. On the a la carte side of things, there's housekeeping if you want it, and valet parking honestly is a lifesaver in Business Bay.
But the real showstopper is up at the very top, where SLS calls it The Crown. The top levels here are just another world. There's that infinity pool everybody posts about on Instagram. It really is as good as the photos. At sunset there's this peaceful glow over the skyline. There are restaurants up there too, a sky lobby and a lounge that makes you want to hang out with friends for a while. At night, you can hear the gentle hum of the city but way up here it feels peaceful. Sometimes you just want to leave your phone inside.
Living at SLS Dubai Hotel and Residences also puts you in the heart of Business Bay, which turns out to be surprisingly walkable. The coffee shop is never far, grocery runs are quick, and there are always things happening around the neighbourhood. In the evenings you'll spot people out for a walk, sometimes you'll see a couple of kids biking.
It's hard to say exactly what the right home feels like until you step inside. If you want to come get that sense for yourself, or just want to know a bit more about this studio, reach out anytime.
