Port de La Mer, La Mer, Jumeirah
Some places just make you stop and breathe for a second. This studio apartment at La Cote in Port de La Mer, right in the heart of Jumeirah, sort of does that. You walk in and it just feels like Dubai from the get go with that salty breeze in the air and the sound of the waves not too far off. I actually took a little break right by the window here and you can see boats gliding past in the marina but you can still spot the city skyline in the background. Sometimes it almost feels like you are getting both sides of Dubai at once. That always surprises people.
The way this particular part of Jumeirah works is it fits into the new vibe that is slowly spreading from Jumeirah Public Beach out onto La Mer. There is this boardwalk with all sorts of food and coffee places so honestly grabbing a flat white and sitting by the sea kind of becomes a habit. Even if you do not end up eating out every day you still know you have the option just steps away. Kids run with ice creams dripping down their elbows and on weekends there is a bit of a buzz with families heading to the beach or to that Laguna Waterpark which you will end up trying at least once just because it is so close.
What makes Port de La Mer stand out for me is that marina life right outside your door but you still get that residential, homey feel. These are low and mid rise apartments around the marina which looks pretty amazing in the early morning. It is almost quiet except for a few joggers along the water and you might even spot people paddle boarding if you are up early enough. The building itself at La Cote has this Mediterranean touch with soft colours and little balconies so you do not feel boxed in at all. Honestly I can see someone setting up a small table outside and just reading the weekend paper or watching the world go by. Living here is more about slowing down than rushing.
Inside the studio itself you will notice that the layout just works. Sometimes with studios there is this problem where nothing fits right or it just feels like a hotel room but not here. You still get big windows that fill the place with natural light and there is enough space to have a proper bed and a comfortable sitting area without tripping over your suitcase. The kitchen is not one of those show kitchens either. It actually feels like somewhere you would cook a quick meal or at least heat up something at midnight. Storage is better than you would guess honestly. You walk in expecting to have nowhere for your things but there are a few clever spaces tucked in. The bathroom has this clean simple look but with those little modern touches that make things just nice.
Even the location is kind of unbeatable. La Mer is right in Jumeirah so you are not far from anything but at the same time you feel a bit tucked away. You can be at Kite Beach in maybe ten minutes if the traffic is kind and yes Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Marina are also an easy drive. If you need a city break Downtown Dubai and DIFC are just down the main road. Sometimes people think living by the water means being far from everything but that is not the case here at all. Grocery shops and those little specialty stores everyone likes are in the neighbourhood. Plus schools and parks round out the lifestyle.
For the social ones, the marina gets lively in the evenings with a mix of people walking or just chatting over coffee. Everyone seems a bit more relaxed around here. If you like a bit of energy but also enjoy those quiet mornings, this spot delivers both.
It is hard to wrap up how it feels until you stand inside and let the pace slow down. Really the only way to figure out if this is your kind of place is to come and see it for yourself. I am always happy to answer questions or just meet for a quiet walk through. At LuxuryProperty.com, we want your next home to feel right, not rushed. Drop me a message any time you like.
