Villa Nobile, Florence
Some houses in Tuscany sort of press pause on your whole day. This one in Chianti did exactly that to me. Maybe it was the way the light caught the terracotta roof right as I arrived or maybe just that quiet you only get out here in the countryside close to Florence. Either way this is not the sort of villa you just walk through then move on. The place sort of soaks in. It sits in Villa Nobile one of those classic Tuscan communities where you can see the history all around and almost feel it under your feet when you walk through the old entrance gate. The villa has been here since the sixteenth century which is wild to think about but it really feels lived in and not just a piece of ancient history.
As you come up the drive you see hills rolling out in front covered with vines and silvery olive trees. A valley stretches out in the distance and you sometimes catch church bells from another village just drifting in on the breeze. That is Florence for you. The air just cool and still and honestly I found myself standing outside for a moment just watching birds moving between the trees. There are more than fourteen acres to explore here which is something you do not always find in Tuscany Holiday homes. Most of the land is open and planted but there are also real gardens around the main house all kept carefully with a bit of that wild Tuscan touch you cannot fake.
Inside the villa is big but not in a showy way. The main living room gave me that feeling like I could finally breathe. Ceilings are high with old beams showing the real age sometimes you see a little curve in the wood that tells a whole story. The floors are the kind of tile you only get in Italy. Bright white walls almost glowing when the light comes in. I spotted old portraits near the main fireplace and a big candle chandelier that looks like it could be three hundred years old. The family room off to the side has a pool table made of solid dark wood and there is a piano as well someone must have played it over years of Sunday afternoons. Downstairs there is a proper dining room right next to the kitchen and both have windows looking out to the garden. Sitting there you could imagine a long evening meal with the windows open listening to nothing but the sound of the countryside.
The kitchen actually feels ready for real cooking. Space to prep a meal without feeling squeezed and there is a pantry off to the side. You also get a cozy living room and a private study tucked away which I loved for the quiet and light. There is a bedroom on the ground floor with its own ensuite too which is handy if you have guests or parents who want to avoid stairs. Upstairs the bedrooms each have their own feel. Eight in total counting the master suite which has a separate study and this wonderful loggia balcony. Early mornings you can just sit there with a coffee and look out over the vineyards and olive groves. The painted beams above and the cool tiles make it feel peaceful in the summer. I nearly missed the cellar when I first looked around but it is perfect for a wine collection or even a bit of art if that is your thing.
Step outside and the property keeps on giving. The swimming pool is tucked a bit lower so you get plenty of privacy but can still catch the best sun all afternoon. There are outbuildings as well. One big enough for guest stays and big family gatherings with its own kitchen and wine cellar. I easily pictured long nights out there with good food and music in the air. There is even an annex that is just waiting for someone's new idea maybe a creative studio or just more space for guests.
The land is another world. You have six hectares with three of vineyard and three more of old olive grove. Makes you think about making your own olive oil or even bringing the vineyard to life again. In the evening I noticed local kids on bikes riding through the valley below and the little village coffee bar is never too far away if you are craving real espresso.
Honestly this is the kind of Florence estate that could be a home or a whole new project for someone looking to really live in Tuscany. There is so much more than I can really say here. The only way to know if it fits you is to come see it and feel the place for yourself. Just reach out whenever you want and I will walk you through it properly.
