Tenuta del Buon Vino Goodwine Estate, Florence
Sometimes a place feels like it has been waiting for you much longer than you have even been searching. This villa at Tenuta del Buonvino in the Arno Valley really does that to you. I remember walking up the gravel path looking around at the rows of olive trees stretching out forever it seemed thinking you do not even see this on postcards. There is something about the slow hills and the way the light falls across the Chianti countryside here that settles you almost straight away. You look out and the view just keeps going. Panoramic really is the right word.
The villa has this Renaissance character that feels so true to Florence and Tuscany. There are three floors and it is a proper family home but not fussy or stiff. Six bedrooms spread across the villa plus the same number of bathrooms it is all set up for big family gatherings or just you and a few close friends who want some peace. Each floor actually comes with its own full kitchen and I stood there picturing what it would be like making fresh pasta together after a busy week. Cooking is easy here honestly. Nothing modern for the sake of it just proper rooms where you get together and eat and talk.
Vaulted ceilings make the spaces feel grand without trying too hard. Both living rooms are set with fireplaces and I spent a while just standing by one thinking about winter evenings drinking a glass of red wine probably made from the vineyards just outside. That is country living the way it is meant to be.
Upstairs has wide balconies where you want to stand for a while and just tilt your head back and breathe in the view. On clear days you can see shades change as the sun goes down. Even if you work from home it would actually be a nice problem figuring out where to put your desk because every room faces out onto rolling hills. Downstairs there is a loggia with these big arches where the light comes in just right and you get that afternoon breeze that seems to carry lavender and a sweetness I cannot really describe.
The estate also has a private chapel tucked right in the gardens. It is just something special even if you are not looking for it. There is a separate two level apartment once used for the caretaker but honestly it feels made for guests or even grown up kids who want their own zone. Two bedrooms and a living area so again lots of space all with that same sense of calm and proper country feeling.
Wandering the gardens you get these classic Tuscan touches like tidy geometric hedges and little paths made for slow walks. There is a heated pool too that really glows at night soft light over the water and I ended up dipping my hand in and it was perfect. It might sound small but that pool area is one of those spots where you start to pay attention to the sound of birds in the morning or the quiet in the evening before dinner.
The estate itself covers over sixty hectares which is not easy to find in Florence. Almost five of those are full of vineyards. Another twenty five with olive trees which is how you get those amazing green and gold layers everywhere you look year round. I spent time in the working winery on site which has a proper cellar with the classic cement vats big oak barrels and those terracotta jars that come from a village just down the road. The caretaker showed me the setup and you get the sense it is all more than just a farm or business. It is part of how things are done here.
There are also two more apartments as part of the main winery area so if you have guests or staff there is plenty of room. You are only a short drive from Florence which means coffee at your favorite city cafe or a late night walk but honestly when you come back here the quiet settles in and it is just you and the land.
Living here feels genuine. Not a showy estate just a villa that has grown out of Tuscany over time. You will probably find yourself just standing quiet for a minute. That is the effect.
The only way you will know if it feels right for you is to come and see it. If you want a walk through or just want to talk about what life is really like out here let me know. At LuxuryProperty dot com we want finding your new home in Florence to be the easiest part of your day.
