Balqis Residences, Kingdom of Sheba, Palm Jumeirah
Some homes just make you want to slow down right at the entrance. I felt that way the first time I visited this four bedroom villa at Kingdom of Sheba in Palm Jumeirah. It sounds simple but there is a certain light here that you only find in these Palm villas sometimes. You stand by the front door and the sea is peeking in through the windows and the space just feels easy. I have seen a lot of homes on the Palm and they do start to blend together after a while but honestly this one stands out. Even when it was empty I caught myself just hanging around a bit longer because it somehow felt lived in already.
What really grabbed me is how the outdoor space is laid out around the villa. The garden wraps all the way around with bits of real privacy so you do not feel like you are being watched but you still get the breeze off the sea in the afternoon. Standing near the pool there is a gentle sound of water that instantly puts you in a holiday kind of mood. Sometimes birds swoop in and you might notice one of those white egrets stepping across the grass. If you have kids or you like to entertain friends the pool and the terrace just work. You do not have to do anything complicated. You just grab something cool to drink sit on the terrace and beforehand you might grab a book or your phone but honestly you could forget both and just watch the sky. Upstairs there is a really generous terrace and from up there the sea views feel big and open. There is even a Jacuzzi on the roof level which kind of spoils you after a while. If you ever want a quiet sunrise or a sunset that goes straight into the sea this spot is going to be your favorite.
Inside the design is all about comfort without showing off. The living room has that bright warm feeling as the sun moves around and you picture laidback breakfasts where no one is rushing. The kitchen is different to the usual open plans. It is a closed kitchen that you actually want to cook in. There is an island in the middle and you can imagine setting up a lazy breakfast or even just leaning over to chat while something simmers quietly. What I like is you can swing open the doors from the dining and living rooms straight into the garden. If friends show up or there is a birthday or just a lazy weekend it all just flows together.
People sometimes ask about storage and where you actually put real stuff. Down in the basement there is a big flexible room that could become anything from a cinema to that home gym you always think about setting up or just a place for kids to spread out toys and crafts. Laundry is tucked away down here too. For practicality there is a maids room and the garage fits three cars comfortably and maybe another out front if needed. There is even an elevator so after a long day you do not have to worry about stairs unless you want to.
Bedrooms are thoughtfully laid out. There is one guest room on the ground floor with its own bathroom which is super handy if anyone visits. Upstairs there are three more bedrooms all en suite and a cozy family room that invites those easy movie nights. The rooftop also has a family room with a small pantry and bathroom so if you spend ages up there you have everything you need. Evening skies up here get painted orange and the breeze coming in off the water is something you just have to feel for yourself.
Living in Kingdom of Sheba feels settled and friendly. In the evenings you see families walking or biking along the Crescent and the small coffee shops scattered nearby make mornings easy. You are close to Atlantis for iconic brunches or a night out but day to day life is quiet and safe. The beach really is just a short walk away.
To know if this villa is what you are looking for you probably need to come and take a look. Maybe you will notice small things like an antique tile here or that peaceful spot by the pool that does not show up in photos.
