Sur La Mer, La Mer, Jumeirah
Some homes just pull you in from the first second. This five bedroom villa at Sur La Mer in La Mer Jumeirah is definitely one of those. I walked in expecting to do my usual round of notes but honestly ended up just wandering through the rooms and peeking out the windows a bit longer than usual. Sunlight everywhere, real warmth and that subtle hush you only get near the coast. Sometimes you can hear the sound of the breeze coming in from the beach if you open the doors wide.
The whole place feels sort of Italian Riviera but with a Dubai twist. Those red tiled roofs really do stand out against the blue sky and the gardens are much lusher in person than you would guess from photos. The minute you arrive you get the feeling people actually live here. There are coffee cups on patios sometimes and if you come in the evenings you might see families laughing together or kids riding past on bikes. Just very relaxed.
Inside the villa, the downstairs kind of sets the tone for the rest. The living room is not fussy but big enough for any type of gathering you can think of. You notice right away how it connects to the dining area so you can talk to everyone whether you are setting the table or just hanging out. The kitchen feels a bit special. Not just all high gloss and showy but actually somewhere you could picture yourself making a real meal instead of just microwaving something quick. Sun comes in from two sides and you sort of want to cook breakfast just to stay in there a little longer.
The covered patio wraps right around and you can tell people use it. There is space to read a book in the cooler months or roll out a yoga mat right by the garden. There is also a paved deck along the side that looks perfect for barbecues or just to watch the sky change color in the evenings.
On the first floor you will find four bedrooms. I stood for a bit in the secondary master with its walk in closet and little balcony. It gets that afternoon sun so it feels especially quiet and private. All the bedrooms are big enough that people would actually be comfortable in them even for a long stay. Nothing cramped or tucked away. The bathrooms are not trying too hard either but they all feel clean and fresh and you will notice real attention to the stonework.
Go up again and you reach the master suite. This is the space that made me linger. The big windows, double sinks in the bathroom, that proper soaking tub. I looked out from the private balcony for a while and you can actually see bits of the marina and a little of the water depending where you stand. There is also a family lounge on this level which opens onto terraces in two directions and includes a private study space. Sometimes you forget your phone up here simply because it is so peaceful.
The rooftop is likely to be where you spend a lot of late nights and long weekend lunches. There is a proper barbeque space up there and views over the neighborhood rooftops that stretch all the way to the horizon some days.
Sur La Mer genuinely feels like part of the city but also just a little cut away from it. You can walk to La Mer beach and boardwalk in around ten minutes and the marina at Port de La Mer is even quicker. There is always a place to grab coffee or a bite to eat and in the afternoons people tend to wander down to the water with dogs or settle onto benches with takeaway coffees. Actually the whole area knows how to do weekends well. It is not unusual to see groups heading out on their boats or catching up at one of the beach cafes.
Honestly if you are after a real family villa by the sea with proper city connections this particular home is worth a walk through. You get space privacy and a kind of natural style that is harder to find than you expect in Dubai. The only way to know if it feels right is to come see it for yourself. If you want to know more or just walk through without any rush just reach out whenever you want. At LuxuryProperty.com our job is mostly about helping you feel at home before you even have the keys.
