IL Primo, Opera District, Downtown Dubai
Some places really do stop you for a second when you walk in. That happened to me the first time I saw this penthouse at Il Primo in the Opera District. Five bedrooms up here in the sky. Big windows with all that famous Downtown Dubai light sneaking in around every corner. You do not feel like you are in a city at all sometimes. I just stood by the window and watched the fountains move below the Burj Khalifa and honestly you lose track of time like that.
So let us get into it a bit. This penthouse is roomy enough for a whole family or for someone who really just loves their space. Every bedroom has its own bathroom which is just practical and it means mornings never feel like a rush. There is also a staff room so if you want the extra hands everything is already set up for it. One living room feels more formal, for when you want to feel a little elegant or you have friends over. The other living space is relaxed, one of those places where you drop onto the sofa and just let the view take over. The dining area actually sits in the light. You see shadows moving on the marble in the afternoon. And even the breakfast corner I could see myself sitting there with coffee, just watching people. The kitchen is not just for show, you would actually cook here. You have got space for real cooking and if you are like me and make a bit of a mess there is a second kitchen for all that prep work which keeps the main one tidy when you have guests.
There is also a private gym space which is pretty rare to find in apartments. I can imagine starting or ending the day up here with some exercise and then just jumping into the building's infinity pool downstairs. And while we are talking about the building Il Primo is one of those places where it just all feels sorted for you. The gym is a serious one not just a treadmill and a couple of weights. There is a cigar lounge as well which always smells a bit like leather and old stories. The library is quiet even in the afternoons. The mini theatre is something you will probably appreciate more than you expect. You can gather friends and watch something new or just let the kids have their own film night. There is a golf room which is more fun than you would think and a big hall for those parties or maybe a yoga class on weekends. Of course the Michelin starred restaurant right in the building is impossible to ignore. Sometimes it is raining or you just do not feel like leaving and you can still have something special without going anywhere.
The finishes inside the penthouse are really grown up if that makes sense. Lots of sleek wood touches. Big marble surfaces. Nothing flashy but definitely modern and elegant. It just feels comfortable. Sometimes you see families downstairs in the Opera District square having ice cream or taking photos by the fountains. The Dubai Opera itself is just a few steps away so you might start watching more shows than you ever imagined. People walk here in the evenings and the coffee shop is never far. Even on busy days you can escape above it all.
The layout is practical too with a separate staff entrance so it feels private all around. And yes you are up among the clouds which means even on a normal day the views make things feel a little lighter. I think the real surprise is how easy it feels up here. The Dubai energy is all around but it is quiet when you want it to be. Even with all this space it never feels cold because the design just brings everything together.
I can tell you about it all I want but the only way to really know if this penthouse is what you want is to come up and see it for yourself.
