La Rive, La Mer, Jumeirah
Some homes just slow you down as soon as you step inside. That is exactly what happened to me with this five bedroom penthouse in La Rive at Port de La Mer. I have seen a lot of properties in Jumeirah but there was something about walking through these rooms that made everything feel just a little bit lighter. You take it in slowly. Almost like you are taking a breath for the first time in a while.
The entry sets the tone right away. There is this big open foyer that just pulls you in and you cannot help but glance up and around. The triple living room feels even bigger in person than I expected and you really could have everyone over and still not feel crowded. I could picture coffee set out on one side and someone telling a story on the sofa by the windows. Natural light spills over everything here and honestly I think even on a cloudy day it would still feel bright and fresh. The ocean just fills up the windows every time you look out.
Now the kitchen is partly closed which is actually nice because it gives you some privacy when you are cooking for real and not just heating something up. The central island is one of those you can imagine gathering around for breakfast or late night snacks. There is a breakfast bar that kind of melds with the main space so everyone connects. Probably my favorite spot in the mornings just before heading out for the day.
On this main level you also get a guest suite with its own bathroom and a separate room for staff. So if you have family staying over or you want onsite help it is already thought about. Everything feels very set up for people to relax without bumping into each other too much.
Head upstairs and you find a family room that just begs for movie nights or those lazy afternoons when you do not feel like leaving the house. Three spacious bedrooms all open off this level plus each has its own en suite. Three of them even have walk in closets and I have to say there is something really satisfying about how your things can actually all stay organized. You will notice full width balconies wrapping these rooms and I actually stood out there for a while just watching boats go by. You hear the soft city hum but mostly it is just the sea breezes when you are that high up.
Now the roof deck is a whole different feeling altogether. There is a lobby with a pantry for quick snacks and then you step out onto the lounge. This area is so well set up for entertaining. Picture grilling with friends on a warm night out there. And yes there are real provisions for a swimming pool if the mood ever takes you. Not many places in Dubai give you that level of private outdoor space while still being so close to the best bits of the city.
You will find natural wood and stone finishes everywhere and the colors are mostly neutral. Honestly it is nice to see a space that will work with whatever style you like whether it is classic or modern or something in between. Everything just feels easy and clean. Sometimes you almost forget your phone with the marina and the water right outside.
And about location It is the kind of place where the local coffee shop is always an option and Laguna Waterpark is close by if you like a bit of fun on weekends. The marina is full of boats to watch and you see families walking in the evenings along the promenade. The private beach for residents is actually perfect for a quick swim after work. You do still get fast access to the city centre because the roads are well connected.
It really just comes down to how it feels when you walk through the door. This penthouse at La Mer might be exactly what you are looking for or maybe it is not but I think seeing it in person is the only way to really know.
