Tilal Al Ghaf
Some homes just make you stop and take a breath when you step inside. I had that feeling with this eight bedroom villa in Tilal Al Ghaf Lanai Islands right at the tip of the island with nothing but peaceful water on one side and the energy of the community on the other. The sunlight was catching the surface of the Lagoon Al Ghaf and even before I made it to the front door I could just kind of forget about the city. Even standing on the driveway looking at that crisp modern design and just knowing there is so much space inside you cannot help but be curious to see what is around each corner.
Coming in you land in this absolutely huge living room more like a gallery than somewhere to watch TV if I am being honest but still you could imagine friends and family actually hanging out here like it would never feel cramped. I almost wanted to go and stretch out on one of the couches and just look out at the blue water. The dining area feels just as open and if you are the kind of person who loves to host big dinners you will notice right away how easy it would be here. The kitchen is not one of those show kitchens that never get used either. It feels like a real place you would want to cook or bake with the kids. There is a proper cooking island and a separate prep kitchen, so if you are ever having guests over or something is going on you do not have to stress about space or anything getting in the way.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor each with their own thing going on. One makes for a pretty perfect guest room. But honestly the room across is interesting because it is totally yours to create something from scratch. I have seen it envisioned as a home office with a private meeting area or sometimes as a personal gym or a spa space. A couple I met even turned it into an entertainment den for gaming and movies. It is one of those rooms that can just morph based on what makes your life easier.
Head upstairs and the second floor really surprises you with all the bedrooms. There are six up here including a master suite that has what you would expect his and hers dressing rooms big bathroom views across the water. More than just sleeping space there is this calm pyjama lounge where people just hang out in the evenings or you find the kids quietly reading in the morning. There are two studies off to the side so you could use them for working at home or maybe one becomes a nanny's room or a creative area for the young ones. The master suite can even be redesigned to create an entirely separate living section if you want extra privacy, which is something you do not see often. Another unique bit is that regular bedrooms can turn into a second master suite or you could add a big family lounge spot for movie weekends.
But you really cannot talk about this home without mentioning that basement. If you love cars or you just want a tucked away spot for private celebrations this is unreal there is a car gallery that fits up to twelve cars seriously I counted. Around it there is space for gatherings or even little exhibitions I once saw a wine tasting set up there which was pretty cool. The rest of the basement can be either an entertainment suite with a cinema or a gym and spa so you basically make your own sanctuary no matter what you are into. There is room for all the staff as well so nothing ever feels crowded.
Step outside and the feeling only gets better. You get three separate outdoor lounges and an open air dining spot. Fire up the BBQ and swim in either of the pools with sunlight or city lights reflecting off the water. It is quiet in the afternoons with maybe a few birds chatting or the water gently lapping. The floating lounge over the water is where I would want to keep my morning coffee or spend an evening just talking until late.
And the best part is life in Lanai Islands is all about family and comfort. Schools are nearby the coffee shop never feels far and sometimes you see people out for evening walks or the occasional jog around the lagoon. The villa has eight bedrooms and honestly it is made to give you options so whatever your family needs you will probably find a way to make it work here.
You cannot really get the full picture from just reading about it.
