Hampstead, London
Some homes just do something to you when you step inside. This seven bedroom villa on Hampstead Lane in London is definitely one of those rare places. I remember walking past the gate and noticing how that classic red brick looks even better in the soft Hampstead light. As soon as you get through the front door, the whole energy changes. There is this spiral staircase right in the reception hall that almost begs you to take your time and look up. The way the daylight glows off the wood and stone floors, it is not showy, more just a quiet warmth you feel right away. Honestly, it is the kind of entrance where you end up pausing just to take it all in.
If you know Hampstead in North London, you will know there is nothing quite like the leafy streets here. Hampstead Heath is just a stroll away and you sometimes catch the sound of birds in the morning, even from inside. It is hard to believe central London is so close. Highgate Village and its little bakeries and coffee shops are only a short walk. Sometimes I think one of the best things about living here is that balance—you get all the peace of a private villa and still get to walk out for a flat white or some groceries without much bother.
The house itself is only four years old, but it is funny how settled and established it already feels. That red brick had me thinking of traditional London villas, but step inside and it leans thoroughly modern. You notice long lines everywhere, big windows, and then all that light flooding in through massive panes overlooking your own private back garden. I parked myself by one of them for a bit, just watching the leaves move, and honestly, you could easily waste an afternoon doing nothing but that.
Kitchens can sometimes feel like showpieces in these homes, but here it is a space you might actually want to use. The kitchen and dining area are open and bright, the sort of spot where lazy weekend breakfasts happen and it just feels easy to gather friends and family around. There are sliding wooden doors that close off for some privacy or if you want to keep the cooking behind the scenes, but most of the time it all flows together. I have also noticed the sitting room just around the corner is where people drift off to unwind, feet up, mug in hand. Plus, there is a real study here, with enough room for more than just a laptop and a chair, which matters now that working from home is so normal.
Head upstairs and suddenly it feels like you are walking through your own private section of a boutique hotel. The master suite has a different feel—think its own dressing rooms, plus a balcony for each, so there is no arguing over space. I tried standing out on the terrace at twilight and the view is just far enough removed from the city to keep it peaceful, but you know everything is still nearby. The family bedrooms are filled with that same sunlight, big enough for whatever life brings—sleepovers or growing kids or just a bit of quiet if you need it. At the very top of the house, there are three more bedrooms and an extra terrace. I imagine late night conversations under the stars could become a tradition up there.
Where this Hampstead villa really surprises is the basement. There is a pool that actually feels made for swimming laps, not just for show. Plus, it works well for easy Sundays with kids splashing around. The spa and gym both feel like spaces you would use, not just pass through. And for movie nights, there is a cinema room already set up, so you never have to deal with crowds. There is even a proper guest bedroom and bath tucked down here, which just makes things comfortable when friends or family come to stay.
Living on Hampstead Lane, you are never far from something beautiful or useful. Kenwood House, schools, little shops and the sprawling green of Hampstead Heath are all easy walks. Sometimes you see people strolling with dogs or kids biking by and it just feels like a real community that is hard to find in a big city.
Honestly, words only do so much. If you want to find out whether this house is the right fit, best thing is to come and see for yourself. If you have any questions or just want to walk through, reach out any time. At LuxuryProperty.com, we want your next move to feel as relaxed as it should.
