Le Béton, Bantry Bay, Cape Town
There is something about certain homes that just makes you stop for a second. When I first walked into Villa 37A in Bantry Bay I caught myself just kind of pausing at the window taking in those sweeping Atlantic views with the mountains curling to the side. Honestly it feels a little surreal at first. You stop thinking about your errands or your next phone call because the place draws you in right away. It is set in Cape Town's famed Bantry Bay which, if you do not know, gets more sunshine and less wind than almost anywhere along the coast so it is that rare spot where you can actually enjoy your terrace almost every day.
The house is big enough that you never quite run out of new corners to discover. You have three full levels to play with here and they all connect with the glossiest Schindler elevator I have ever seen in a home. The open living spaces are all wrapped in Oggie solid wood underfoot so you get that real warm natural feeling each time you walk barefoot from the living room out to the glass balcony. Sometimes you really do just notice the quality of things even if you are not the type who usually looks at details. The kitchen practically invites you to cook for real not just stand around with a mug of tea. Valcucine cabinetry and Gaggenau appliances are there waiting for an actual meal. I could imagine friends perched at the designer bar with a drink while someone stirs a pot on the stove. It all just feels easy.
If you are into views you are sorted. There is nothing between you and that Atlantic horizon so your mornings are all golden blue light. Even the pool terrace has no tricky angles with the sea so you find yourself sitting out later than you mean just watching the sky change colors. The top floor is the place to host honestly since you get both indoor and outdoor flow with sliding glass and no one ever feels crammed in a corner. Sometimes you just forget your phone altogether here.
Bedrooms matter and you can feel it in the way these ones are designed. Four in total all en suite with that little bit of boutique hotel mood layered in. The main suite is tucked away just enough with its own leafy courtyard. You will probably want to take your coffee out there in the morning. In the evenings there is usually a hush over the bay and you'll hear distant waves not road noise.
Now there is a basement here that frankly feels like another house. Six cars fit with space to actually move around which if you have spent any time in Cape Town you know that is rare. Some people collect wine some collect cars and if you need both there is room for everything. The gym setup is proper not one of those afterthought rooms in the basement plus there is a private suite for staff or extra guests. It is so private down there you could easily play around with the space as needed.
Technology here kind of hides itself but you get all the control you want. Lighting and climate are fingertip managed with the Savant and Lutron system but you will rarely need to fuss with anything. Solar and water systems give things a bit of an independent feel too. There is just something about knowing you are covered if loadshedding or other surprises pop up.
When you want to head out Clifton and Sea Point are basically around the corner. Coffee shops local markets and walks along the beachfront are part of life here. You even see kids biking as the sun goes down. No two evenings feel the same.
I will say this villa is meant for someone who likes their privacy and space but also loves Cape Town's coast. The only way you really know is to walk through in person and get a sense for it yourself. If you have questions big or small or just want to see when the sun hits the living room give me a shout any time. At LuxuryProperty.com we are always happy to help make the next step feel as comfortable as it should.
