Sometimes a place just grabs your attention the minute you step in. Being up on the 22nd floor at One High Line in Manhattan kind of does that. I remember just letting the city fade for a second as I walked into Residence West 22C. There is something about the way the light sits in this apartment. It is somehow both calm and full of life when you look out over the Hudson River as far as you can see. You get those massive windows and all of Manhattan feels like it is stretching right out to say hello. If you are someone who enjoys a bit of everyday theatre in your life, you will probably enjoy the sunsets up here. Honestly, I stopped next to the glass and just watched the sky change color for a while. The feeling you get is not easy to put into words but it is definitely special.
There are three bedrooms here, every one with its own bathroom so you never have to think about sharing in the mornings. The main bedroom is really something though. When you wake up, the whole river is right in front of you. There is a relaxing tub in the bathroom where time just seems to slow down and the materials used feel cool under your hand. The designers went with Taj Mahal Quartzite which sounds fancy on paper but in person just makes the room feel grounded and calm. The floors even have that quiet heat that makes winter mornings so much better. It is one of those homes where you start to imagine shifting your routine around soaking up the morning or evening views. You kind of want to linger in each space a little longer.
The kitchen, not just for looking nice, actually looks like you would cook for real. It is stylish without feeling like a museum, with White Princess Quartzite counters and real Gaggenau appliances you can trust. Everything sort of flows into the living space so if you have people over or even if you just want to keep an eye on kids or pets while you get the coffee going, it is all just easy. I think it is comfortable without being too showy and that balance is pretty rare in New York. A lot of these new buildings can feel cold or overdone but here the wood, the textures, the moodโeverything works. It is never stuffy. Even the extra bedrooms have big windows and their own peaceful feel. You will notice the details when you walk down the hall, like how the light follows you into every room. Sometimes you can hear a little of the city below but it always feels private and quiet.
The building itself is surprising in all the right ways. One High Line is this mix of serious modern design and real comfort. It was designed by Bjarke Ingels Group which means everything feels thoughtful and a bit bold at the same time. You have the High Line Club right downstairs, and that gives you access to a long pool where you can actually swim laps, not just float. There is a spa of course, and a gym that never gets too crowded from what I have seen. You might bump into a neighbor in the lounge who actually talks to you instead of just passing by. Kids have their own playroom so if you have family, that makes life a bit more practical. Honestly the day to day stuff feels easier hereโparking is simple and secure and you have the Faena Hotel folks looking out for you, which is not something you get in most Manhattan condos.
You are also in this crazy location where you can pop down to the High Line whenever you feel like taking a walk or grab coffee at one of those small West Side shops where the owner might remember your name. If you feel like seeing some art or meeting friends downtown, you are already halfway there just by living here. I think for people who want the energy of Manhattan but also crave their own calm spot up above it all, this place really gets it right.
The only real way to know if it feels right for you is to see it in person. If you want to come up for a walk through or just have a few questions, I am always happy to talk more. At LuxuryProperty.com, we just try to make sure the next move fits your lifestyle as comfortably as possible.
