The Pavillion, Sunningdale Park, London
Some homes just have that feeling when you walk in and slow down a bit. This two bedroom apartment at The Pavilion in Sunningdale has exactly that effect. The building itself really stands out as soon as you see it. Not loud or trying too hard. It's more quietly modern, that sort of curved crescent shape playing off all the old trees and you still feel the history of this part of London all around you. When I visited, I actually sat in the residents' lounge for a moment just to watch the way the afternoon sun hit the parkland out front. There was this gentle hush and at the same time, just outside, you could hear someone walking their dog along the pathway that runs through those forty seven acres of greenery.
So if you're after a London apartment that feels proper and peaceful, Sunningdale Park is one to check out. Some places just make you want to kick off your shoes and open the windows for some fresh air. This is that kind of place. The way The Pavilion is set up, you really get a balance here. These apartments come with all the privacy you'd want. The trees outside are old and tall, so even sitting on your balcony with a coffee feels tucked away. The living area is bright at nearly any time of day because of the way the glass is done. Sometimes you almost forget your phone cord is still trailing because you just stay looking out the window. It happens to a lot of us.
And kitchens. I have to say I actually looked up Charles Yorke kitchens after my visit because these are so well fitted and actually feel like somewhere you might put on a pot and cook properly with your people around. It's not show-offy but you know it's solid. The layout just flows easilyโfor breakfasts together or something more, and it keeps on feeling easy in the way the rooms connect. Both bedrooms get good light and while Sunningdale is calm outside, it's especially quiet up here. Maybe it's the double glazing but honestly, you almost miss the gentle sound of leaves outside with the windows shut. Storage is sorted as well. Not every London apartment can say that. The built ins are thoughtful. You'll notice those small touchesโlike switches in exactly the right place or the way the lighting never feels harsh.
For parking, it depends on the apartment. Some have their own garages right here, others have nicely allocated spaces on site, so you never need to worry if you do drive. If not, the train station isn't far. I actually noticed a couple of residents carrying baguettes and groceries, walking back from the village, and it almost feels like living in a smaller town. Sunningdale village has a local bakery, a real sense of community, and for those quiet mornings, you can wander down and feel like everyone's on first name terms. London itself is always within reach but you get to return to peace and greenery at the end of the day.
The Pavilion Room might sound formal but honestly it just feels like an extra lounge you did not know you wanted. There's enough room to spread out with a laptop or just read. It was pretty quiet when I popped in, and I could imagine getting actual work done or just letting your mind drift. The concierge is always calm and easy with a bit of local advice if you ask. Security and care just sort of happen in the background so you barely notice the daily details being managed for you.
You're also wrapped in the history of Sunningdale. Golfers know the area for the world class courses nearby. Between all the walking trails, local shops, and that parkland out front, it does not feel at all like central London and that is the beauty. The pace is a little slower but you're never far from the energy if you need it.
Truth is, reading about a place only tells you so much. The only way to know if life at The Pavilion is right for you is to come by, have a look, walk around the parkland, maybe sit for coffee.
