Some properties just have an energy that is hard to explain until you stand on the grounds yourself. The first time I walked up the long drive to The Manor at 594 South Mapleton, I had to stop for a second and try to take in the sheer scale of it all. Out here in the Platinum Triangle in Los Angeles, you expect big homes, but this one is more like its own private world. You have nearly five acres to wander, with city buzz just close enough that Beverly Hills coffee shops or a stroll down Rodeo Drive never feels like a hassle. The whole place sits hidden behind tall hedges and gates. It makes you feel a little like you have your own secret park in the middle of LA.
The first thing you really noticeโeven before you get insideโis that sense of space. There is a circular motor court where you could hold a Sunday morning car meet if you wanted. There are not many homes where you could park a hundred cars out front and not even fill up the space. You come through these imposing doors and suddenly you are in a place with ceilings that just keep going up and up. The entry really is something. Thirty feet straight up, huge staircase curling around on both sides, sunlight pouring in. You just kind of naturally stop for a second at the top of the stairs and look back down. It does not even feel like Los Angeles for a second. More like an old European palace, but one where you can hear birds outside and the light is always that soft California gold.
To me, what is interesting is how the house has these grand spaces, but also small corners that feel inviting and lived in. You wander into the library and it actually feels like somewhere you might sit and read for a couple hours, big overstuffed chairs that make you want to put your feet up and forget your phone for a bit. The kitchen is like something out of a cooking show, but honestly feels ready for real family breakfasts or a midnight snack run. You will find everything you could need for a real gathering. There are rooms for movies, a billiards space downstairs, and of course the theatre that is so comfortable, you kind of lose track of time. There is even a proper chef's kitchen tucked away, plus a wine cellar that would make any collector happy. Sometimes, it is the little things you will notice most, like how morning light fills the solarium or how cool the tile stays in the spa room on a warm LA day.
Bedrooms here are generous, to say the least. There are fifteen of them, but it never feels overwhelming. Each one has its own personality and angle on the grounds, some with views of the formal gardens and others looking out over these rolling lawns or the pool area. The beauty salon is a surprise. There is a gym too. I have seen people pop out to the tennis court early in the morning and sometimes you even catch the sound of a friendly game just as the sun is setting.
Outdoors is another world. It actually feels a bit like you are in your own resort. The pool is the centerpiece but spreads out into gardens that invite you to explore. Lawns stretch in every direction. There are quiet paths where sometimes you see kids with bikes or even someone just reading on a bench. The championship tennis court really stands out when the sun comes through the trees in the afternoons. The whole place has this calm about it, even with the city right outside.
It is hard to fit the feeling of The Manor into words. If you are thinking about Beverly Hills or Los Angeles luxury real estate, it is somewhere you have to see. Just to know if it feels right when you walk across the entry or hear the sound of water by the pool. If you want to visit or ask anything at all, just let me know and we can arrange something. At LuxuryProperty.com we want to help you find a place that actually feels like home.
