Some homes just ease you into a slower mood as soon as you walk in. This two bedroom apartment at Muraba Residences over on Palm Jumeirah really does that. The first time I visited, I actually found myself standing still by the window for a few minutes, just watching the water and the skyline on the horizon. It feels very open here. There is something about the Eastern Crescent side of Palm Jumeirah that feels tucked away but at the same time right in the heart of Dubai. You are surrounded by the sound of the water and the gentle buzz of the city just far enough in the distance.

Muraba Residences is not your average building. It is smaller, just forty six apartments plus four penthouses. So things always seem a little quieter here. It is not showy but modern in a low key way. The people who live here say they enjoy the privacy and the fact you get those long views across the sea and right over to the city. And honestly, the building itself feels artful. RCR Architects designed it, and the facade stands out, but not loudly. The architecture lines up with the whole feeling of the Palm Jumeirah Crescent, clean and letting the light in.

Step inside this apartment and the space opens right up. You get one thousand seven hundred forty nine square feet and it does not feel cramped anywhere. The living and dining area runs into the kitchen in an open plan way, which is actually pretty useful if you like to cook and talk at the same time. The kitchen is not just for show either. It feels like somewhere you could make a whole meal, not just heat leftovers. I liked the way the natural light floods in. Floor to ceiling windows mean that mornings feel bright, and evenings have that golden look when the sun goes down over the water. The colors are mostly simple creams and pale wood, so nothing shouts for attention. Even the furniture, which is already here, is tasteful and actually feels comfy enough to sit on for a couple hours. There are days when you hardly remember your phone, because you keep drifting over to the sight of boats moving across the sea or watching the city wake up in the morning.

Both bedrooms are calm and set back from any noise. The built in wardrobes are the sort that do not eat up space, just simple and useful. Bathrooms look and feel polished, with those little details that actually matter, like a vanity that will not clutter up in a week and showers that get real water pressure. When you wake up and wander barefoot to the big windows, you can see out to the sea and once or twice I have even seen the sunrise feel like it is just for you.

Life here is pretty relaxed. On site you have a proper swimming pool that looks out at the Arabian Gulf. I have noticed families head down for a swim in the morning with their coffee or sometimes just come out in the evenings to catch the last bit of sun. There is also a gym that is fully kitted out if you are one for working out, and a vitality pool, steam room, and a kind of experience shower that is actually more relaxing than you would guess from its name. Sometimes you see neighbors hanging out and just chatting by the pool. The community here is comfortable, close but not crowded. Plus it feels easy to get to the rest of Palm Jumeirah or even into Dubai Marina if you want to catch dinner or a coffee. Taxis and Ubers are always close by and honestly, you will probably only drive when you really want to.

Muraba Residences is one of those places where it makes sense if you want a proper home to live full time, but it is just as perfect as a second home if you come and go. Some owners even keep it just for the weekends or holidays. And the best part really is having all the calm of the sea with the city there when you want it.
