Some homes just have a way of slowing you down before you even step inside. That's what happened to me here at this nine bedroom estate in Olde Town Southampton. I pulled through the security gates with the kind of anticipation you get when you know something is special and just wanted to take it all in. The driveway feels like its own event and before you even see the inside you're looking at those classic Doric columns and gable roofs and getting this real Hamptons vibe. This isn't just a big house in the Hamptons. It feels like the kind of home that sets the tone for how you live every single day.
When you push open the huge mahogany double doors you're hit first by the ceiling height. It's almost like being in a boutique hotel lobby with sunlight catching on the wood panels and everything just flowing together. There is a sense of airiness in the foyer that I haven't found in many other luxury villas around New York or even the entire Hamptons community. You stand there and you realize you just want to walk a little slower and take in the atmosphere. The formal living room feels like it is made for real conversations and winter afternoons spent by the black marble fireplace while you watch the light from those tall windows shift across the stone.
You'll notice all the soft grey tones and little pops of modern design in the dรฉcor. Sometimes you almost forget that Anthony Ingrao did the interiors because nothing is shouting for attention yet it all feels so sharp and intentional. The living room blends into an enormous terrace so you just step outside anytime with your coffee and let your eyes wander over the garden and lawns. The birds are noisy here in the mornings, in the best way. Every now and then you see deer at the edge of the trees.
Big kitchens attract people and this one actually feels like somewhere you'd want to cook. There's stainless steel everywhere and a butler's pantry that makes life so easy when people drop by or you want to prepare quietly while still being in the heart of things. I have yet to find a breakfast area as cozy as this great room. The round table in that little sunlit nook is one of those spots you never want to leave. Everyone somehow ends up here no matter what.
Other spaces on this floor speak to how families actually live. The media room doubles up for late movie nights and the library is the kind of place you might sit with tea and forget your phone for an hour. The formal dining feels special, not stiff and with doors sliding open to the garden you get the best of indoor and outdoor at every meal during the warmer months.
Upstairs, the bedrooms all have their own characters. You'll actually want to sit by the bay window in the junior suite just to gaze out at the greenery. The master suite isn't trying too hard but you feel how carefully everything was chosen. The private terrace is almost a retreat in itself. Try the bathroom with its double showers and tub facing wide open leafy views and you'll know what I mean.
If you want to see a home cinema that actually feels like a cinema, the basement here is something else. Add in a spa with a juice bar, sauna, and a proper massage room and you start picturing quiet Sunday afternoons when you don't even want to leave. Not to mention the indoor basketball court. I doubt there's any other house for sale in the Hamptons offering so much for sports folks. Outdoor spaces are just as impressive with the Olympic size heated pool and a pool house that draws everyone out for summer barbecues or cool evenings around the fire pit with friends and S'mores. The putting green up on the roof has sweeping views and that sense of privacy you don't always expect so close to everything in Southampton.
Sometimes you feel a place just fits its setting and lifestyle. Here you're close to the beach clubs, all the best Hamptons cafรฉs and of course everything special about living in New York while having three acres of your own.
If you're thinking about a real upgrade to your daily life, or just want space for everyone to visit and make memories, I really can't describe it all. You need to see it. Any questions or if you simply want to wander through and sit a while, let me know. At LuxuryProperty.com we just want to help make your next move feel just right.
