879 Linda Flora Dr, Los Angeles, California
Sometimes a place just makes you stop talking for a minute. You open the door and everything gets a little quieter. That was the feeling for me at this Bel Air compound called FRAME. It is right on Linda Flora Drive and set across more than three acres. When you turn into the long driveway you notice how the pepper trees seem to show you the way in. You see the rooflines at first and then the city and ocean off in the distance start to grab your attention. Honestly the views here are massive. A wide sweep of Los Angeles skyline the Getty straight in front of you and on a clear day the Pacific feels like it is right at your doorstep.
This place is not like every other villa for sale in Bel Air or Los Angeles. You can tell it was made by someone who really gets how people want to live well but still feel at ease. There is a real Scandinavian sense in the architecture with all the natural wood and huge windows. Everything breathes a bit. It just feels open and calm even when you have friends over and the house is full of voices. When you step into the main hallway the ceiling is so high you cannot help but look up for a second. That bespoke light fixture feels like something you see in a magazine but here it just works. Off the entrance you have curved arches pulling you into the main living room. The whole area sinks down a bit so you feel sheltered and together. I am not sure you will ever want to leave that space whatever the weather.
The kitchen actually feels like somewhere you end up living in over time. You can picture breakfast here with the sun moving through the marble and warm wood. There are dual islands so you do not feel like you are in the way if someone is making coffee while another is prepping dinner. You will spot the chef's pantry tucked away for bigger occasions when people come by. There is a proper wine room too. That part feels like a nice surprise sliding back the glass and seeing all those bottles lined up waiting for a dinner party or celebration.
Upstairs is where things slow down. All the bedrooms carry this gentle light. It is the sort where you can leave the curtains open and not worry about anyone seeing in. The main suite really stands out with those gallery style windows. Sometimes you just look out and watch the clouds roll past the Getty or step out to the balcony with a cup of coffee and the city just sits there below. Bathrooms here are finished in travertine and they somehow feel both cool and warm at the same time. The way things echo there almost makes it a little meditative after a long day.
There is a guest house that is more than an afterthought and honestly is its own retreat. You could set it up for wellness. The glass gym catches the morning sun. There is a sauna and steam room plus a room that fits a massage table. The wraparound terrace lets you look down on the vineyards nearby and sometimes you catch people early in the morning walking dogs or jogging.
And then you notice all the outdoor spaces which just flow from inside to out. The travertine pool has no hard edges to your view. The tennis and basketball space is tucked out of sight but it is there when you want to use it after work or with kids. That big garage door you see as you arrive truly ties together the whole frame of the home and feels a bit like living inside a piece of art.
Some places you visit but this one you settle into. Bel Air location really gives you plenty of privacy and peace but you are still part of everything happening in Los Angeles. Honestly the only way to really feel it is to walk through yourself. If you want to talk about FRAME on Linda Flora or just ask anything about life in this part of California get in touch any time.
