Some places just have a mood all their own and the Orum residence in Bel Air is definitely like that. The first time I walked up that long and winding drive you feel how private it all is. You just sort of breathe a little deeper out here and honestly the world feels further away. Up at the top it is not like any regular nine bedroom villa in Los Angeles. It is more like standing above it all with those downtown Los Angeles views and you can even see the Pacific stretching out on a clear morning. Sometimes the fog rolls in and it gets really peaceful.
This is California living at its best but honestly it feels different from anywhere else I have seen. The architect Zoltan Pali did something bold here. He wrapped the whole place in glass that sometimes reflects the sky and at other times opens right out to it. The whole house kind of changes mood with the weather and even with the time of day. I have stood out on the big terrace and you just want to take your time. Sometimes the sunset feels like it is never going to end out here.
There are three wings if you look from above and each one has its own feel. You would think such a big place would be cold but inside has this surprising warmth. High ceilings and soft light everywhere. It is not overdone. Just thoughtful spaces that do not crowd you. Those nine bedrooms actually feel calm and private because of how they are tucked away. I took a walk through and it really hit me that this would be a home for someone who likes to be together but also values real personal space. It is honestly easy to imagine waking up with deer outside sometimes because of how close you feel to nature.
And even though it is grand you do not have to keep it perfect every second. The living room is light filled and flows right outside. It is a spot where even with everyone over it would not feel busy. The kitchen is huge but it is one you would use for real cooking. There is enough room that friends or family could hang out while you make something together. You also get those epic views from nearly every seat. I know a lot of villas in California talk about flow but Orum sort of nails it without trying too hard.
The plot is really big and double gated so you have real security and peace. There are spots on the grounds where you just want to walk and look around. Kids could run around and probably find their own adventures. Some days I imagine just grabbing a coffee and heading outside to watch the light change. Honestly the birds seem to love it up here too.
Living in Los Angeles at Orum means you are still not far from everything. The buzz of the city is always close enough but out here you will feel like you can leave it all behind. Sometimes you even forget the time. If you like a house to impress that is easy but what you get is a place that gives back to you every single day. You can feel the craftsmanship everywhere there is a balance of style and function that really works and it is all just wrapped up in the most incredible setting.
The only real way to know if this villa feels right for you is to come see Orum in person. If you have questions or if you want to take a slow walk around and just let it all sink in reach out any time. At LuxuryProperty.com we just want your next move in California to feel easy and right for your lifestyle.
