Some homes just slow you down a little as soon as you step inside and honestly I had one of those moments the first time I found myself in this one bedroom apartment at One Blackfriars. You come through the door here and for a second you might simply want to look around without even thinking about it. There is this sense of calm in the way light plays on the wood finishes which feels both new and kind of timeless at the same time. It is not just about the view either although the west facing windows really do catch these golden bits of sun in the afternoon. There is something gently elegant about how everything fits together. It sort of reminds me of walking through a classic London gallery with a few surprises tucked in.

This apartment is part of what they call the Gainsborough Collection so there is this hint of eighteenth century London style but nothing too stiff or formal. I always find the kitchen is a good test for any home and here you actually feel like you would enjoy cooking real meals not just unwrapping takeaways and calling it a night. The appliances are from Siemens so you know everything is easy and reliable. The cabinetry is this warm wood which makes mornings feel a bit more relaxed. And the countertops are stone with a smooth surface that almost begs to be wiped down after you have made your morning coffee. I stood by the window here more than once and honestly sometimes the city feels almost peaceful from up this high.

Some people look at an apartment and only see its numbers but here the little things add up. The floors are temperature controlled so you would not have those cold feet moments in the winter. I think families or even single folks appreciate little touches like this. You get big full height windows that make the space feel wider and lighter than you might expect for a one bedroom place. The living room actually makes you want to sit down and maybe forget your phone for a bit. I tried out the Sonos soundbar with the television and yes it actually does feel a bit like having your own private cinema for the night. Sometimes you just want to watch a film and have it sound right.

Of course the smart home features mean you can do most things from the iPad which comes with the apartment. Light, music, maybe even the temperature. I know some people love that and to be fair it is pretty handy after you get used to it. You will also notice how the building itself feels more like a really welcoming hotel than any apartment I have visited in central London. There is a proper concierge desk that never seems to sleep which is good if you are coming back late or have deliveries. Harrods Estate manages it so it is not your usual front desk experience. Everything just feels a little more personal and smooth.

One thing that really stands out about One Blackfriars is what you get beyond your own four walls. On the thirty second floor there is this beautiful lounge which honestly has some of the best views in London. Mornings are bright and in the evenings you see the city lights stretching out past the Thames. It is quiet enough for work or calling home but feels special enough for inviting friends over too. There is also a swimming pool that has this spa feeling to it and I reckon you could easily lose hours there. The fitness suite is fully stocked if that is important to you. There is even a golf simulator if you are missing your favorite club and a private screening room for when you want a bit more cinema than TV. Sometimes after a long London day nothing feels as good as heading down to the spa and letting the city just melt away.

Location wise you get direct access to the South Bank which feels almost like its own small town sometimes. The river is right there so you can just walk outside and be at the water in seconds. Museums are easy to reach and if you fancy something more royal Buckingham Palace is not too far either. You notice a real mix of people living here and the coffee shops nearby make weekends feel like a holiday. Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea are close if shopping is your thing or even just wandering and people watching.

There are plenty of details I could keep talking about but really the only way to know if this place feels right is to come and see it for yourself. I am always happy to answer questions or set up a quiet walkthrough whenever you like. At LuxuryProperty.com we try to make finding your next home feel as comfortable as stepping through the door of one that already fits you perfectly. If you want to know more or just chat about what living here could be like you know where to find me.
