About this property

Some buildings just sort of grab your attention the second you walk up. The Westly in the Upper West Side of Manhattan really does that. For me, it's the way the architecture makes you stop and look up for a second. The whole structure stands out but not in an in-your-face way. There's this feeling of old New York, a real nod to the city's past in the columns and old school proportions, but then you get these bold angles and it just feels strikingly modern too. Even from the street, you notice it is different.

The lobby gave me a real sense of arrival. You step in and there's this grand welcome, not fussy or flashy, just enough to make it feel private. And then you look up toward the staircase and the light pouring in from above and you realize this is nothing like those forgettable high rises you sometimes see. For everyone looking for luxury condos in Manhattan or something with a bit of genuine Upper West Side character, this is the kind of address you'll want to explore.

Upstairs, you can either ride the smooth elevator or just take a slow walk looking out at the treetops along the neighborhood streets below. The second floor is where all the good stuff happens. There's this social lounge that feels like a step above your regular amenity space. You can easily imagine spending a lazy Sunday here reading with the window open. I peeked in the game room and honestly, these spaces don't usually tempt me but this one actually made me want to stay and play. There's also a music room with a grand piano for those rare nights you want to do something different. The fitness center is bright and not overcrowded with equipment. The yoga studio has real sunlight too, not those windowless setups you sometimes get.

And then up top, there's a rooftop pool. Maybe you don't always think about swimming in the middle of the Manhattan skyline, but up here you really get that view straight across the Hudson River and out over all of New York. It is quiet. You just want to sit for a bit and forget about your phone.

When it comes down to the apartments, honestly the space is kind of surprising. These are not the new builds that skimp on square footage. The layouts are generous, they nod to classic prewar size, which means you get these big open living rooms with those huge windows facing out. A lot of oak underfoot, which feels good if you are barefoot in the morning. I stood for a second by the window in one of the apartments and watched a couple of birds land on the windowsill, absolutely no street noise. Bedrooms are tucked away from any busy corners and they actually feel quiet even with the city going on outside. You'll appreciate that each bedroom has its own bathroom and these are done up like a true spa, lots of marble and great lighting. Closets are big enough that you do not need to put things in boxes under the bed.

If you manage to see one of the penthouses, the ceilings go up even higher and those dramatic windows frame some pretty impressive sunsets. You can see the Manhattan skyline stretching all the way out, and some days when the weather changes, you get these big dramatic skies over the river. It just feels easy up here. Some evenings you see lights from the ballet or the Beacon Theater nearby.

Stepping outside you remember you are only a couple short blocks from Riverside Park or Central Park depending which way you want to walk. Broadway is right there for your morning coffee or a last minute dinner run. And if you are into food, you're basically on the doorstep of everything from famous bakeries to those Michelin spots like Jean Georges or just a real classic like Carmine's where the regulars know your order. Sometimes you walk around here and forget you are in the city because you get kids biking home or neighbors saying hi on their way to the market. And public transport is always right around the corner so you can really get anywhere you need to.

The only way to know if this place feels right is to come and see for yourself. I'm always happy to answer questions or even just walk you through at your own pace. At LuxuryProperty.com, we want your next move to fit your pace and your life.
