Some homes just kind of pull you in as you walk through the door. This four bedroom villa sitting quietly in the Royal Residences at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is one of those places. The villa is right on the lagoon and actually faces the water. When I visited, I stopped at the back deck for a second just to watch the sun flicker on the water and can honestly say you will feel away from the city out here even though you are never far from anything on the Palm Jumeirah. If you know a bit about this spot on The Crescent, you probably already know it is not just any villa collection. Only thirty eight lagoon homes here. The privacy even before you reach the doorstep feels a little special.
You will see straightaway how much thought went into this villa's design. Ottoman inspired in a way that is not too over the top. You will notice little things — like the way natural marble runs through the halls or the way the light comes in from the lagoon. Some of the stone and wood actually comes from Western Anatolia. It is those details that really make this place feel somewhere between classic and just easy to live in.
Walk inside and you will notice how the entry feels open instead of closed off. It drifts right onto the rear deck. Most of the time the sliding doors are open, so the breeze comes right through. Living and dining spill out towards the water. I kept thinking this is one of those places where meals just extend into evenings and music floats around and you do not worry what time it is. The kitchen is actually set up to cook for real. Good counter space, all the appliances you could need, and tucked away just enough that if you love to have friends over you can keep the messy bits out of sight. There is a gym on the main level but if you need somewhere for guests it can flip pretty easily into a comfortable bedroom. You also get a maid's room, plus storage so you can keep things uncluttered. There is a two car garage. If you like to bike, there's even plenty of space outside for a rack which not every villa has.
Upstairs, the first thing you notice is this light filled central living area. The way it is set up makes it feel more like a real lounge than just a spot to walk by. It opens onto a terrace so you get those calm views of the water morning or night. There are four bedrooms up here. Two are master suites, each with big walk in closets. You will not run out of space for shoes or bags, honestly. Morning routines feel a little slower in rooms like this. Maybe that's the point.
Living at Zabeel Saray Royal Residences also means you do not really have to go far for anything. You have direct access to a private beach. Sometimes you see neighbors strolling late in the day or hear kids laughing in the sand. There is a bit of community here, not just empty villas. If you feel like treating yourself, just walk over to the Talise Ottoman Spa which has won all sorts of awards but feels like a hidden spot once you are inside. Even if you just want good food you have nine different restaurants to pick from. Plus the butler service really is twenty four hours. That is not just a catch phrase. People genuinely answer the phone at two in the morning.
The villa is about eight thousand one hundred square feet built up, so whether you have a big family or just want extra space, it works. The plot itself gives you just enough yard for kids or a small pet to run around but it is not so big you are doing yard work all weekend. Honestly, living here feels a little less like you are in the middle of Dubai and more like you have found your own escape close to everything. Coffee shops are dotted along the Palm and you see plenty of locals out biking or jogging these days.
You cannot really sum up what it is like until you have wandered through these rooms or maybe stood barefoot on the deck as the sun goes down.
