I walked through the formal lounge and ended up just sort of wandering out into the courtyard for a bit. Birds were hopping around in the garden and for a moment it did not feel like Dubai at all. If you have staff, there are proper rooms for them downstairs too with laundry and storage sorted out. Honestly, the basement feels like an entire home by itself.

One thing you pick up on as you walk through is that the Mediterranean inspired architecture is not just for show. The arches and plaster work kind of remind you of long holidays somewhere on the coast. Outside the District One community itself always feels calm. It is just a quick stroll to the lagoon where you can walk in the evenings or watch kids biking past after school. Even though everything in Dubai is never that far, District One manages to stay pretty private and that makes a difference.

So this is not the kind of place that is for everyone. It is quite special and feels lived-in somehow even though it is new.
