Some places just give you a bit of a pause when you stand on the ground and you start imagining what your days could actually be like here. Pearl Jumeirah does that. Walk out onto one of its empty plots and honestly you can almost picture your perfect villa already. This particular spot is in a prime position on the island so you get both a huge sense of privacy and a feeling like the waves are never far away. I remember hearing the sound of birds the last time I stood out here and you can definitely smell that salt coming off the Gulf. Even though right now it's a blank canvas it really does not feel empty at all. There's an energy to it.

Pearl Jumeirah is a private island just off the main Jumeirah coastline and it is a lot less busy than you might expect given how close it is to Nikki Beach and the heart of Dubai. If you are out for coffee you will find yourself in Jumeirah pretty fast but then you come back and everything is peaceful again. You could build an absolutely stunning villa here. Modern lines. Big windows. Or maybe something warm and classic that feels more Mediterranean. No matter what you do you will probably end up with a rooftop terrace since the sunrises and sunsets from this part of the city are just ridiculous. I stood here once with a friend and you can actually hear the city sometimes drift across the water even as it feels like it is a world away.

You get over eleven thousand square feet to work with and many people on this island have gone big so it is quite normal to have a backyard pool or even a basement for wellness or fitness. Some owners get really creative with their designs like adding sunken lounges outside or having their living rooms spill straight into the garden. There is space for everything you've thought about and probably a few things you have not. It is not every day you come across a place that lets you start from scratch in such a spectacular location.

Traffic just drops off as soon as you roll into the island. You see a couple of cyclists in the morning or families walking after dinner. It just feels like everyone has more time. I noticed there is never garbage blowing around or anything like that. The whole place is tidy like people genuinely take care of it. If you ever need to get into the city centre or Downtown Dubai you can be there pretty quick so you are never really far from the action but most people who live here say they end up spending a lot of weekends just on the island because it is easy. Nikki Beach is right here too if you want a bit of buzz sometimes. Otherwise it is quiet and honestly you can forget your phone a lot of days.

If you care about community vibe this is one of those places that is still a bit of a hidden gem. It is not splashed all over Instagram and that is probably what keeps it feeling a touch exclusive but still laid back. I think having a plot here is more like getting a blank page for a story you actually want to live in. Choose the number of bedrooms you want. Add a sunroom or even a bigger carport if that's your thing. If you need ideas visit a few of the neighbouring villas. People are surprisingly open about what works for them.
