Some homes just make you stop right in your tracks as soon as you walk in. That was my first feeling the afternoon I stood in this three bedroom apartment at Tajer Residence on Old Town Island. It is one of those rare places where you get proper space without giving up the city feeling and to be honest it is hard to find properties with this much to look at outside your own window.
Let me just start with the patio because that is honestly what everyone who visits wants to talk about. It feels more like a small private garden than anything else and it is not just big it is properly designed for sitting outside with friends or family. I had my coffee out there last week and there was this nice breeze coming off the fountains. At over a thousand square feet you are not short on space you actually get your own Jacuzzi tucked in the corner and trust me the Burj Khalifa view looks even better at night when the lights start flickering across the tower. Sometimes you see people out on their own patios nearby but it all feels very private. There is plenty of room to stretch out or set up a dinner table and honestly in the cooler months this outdoor area will quickly become your favorite spot.
Inside the apartment you notice the feeling of solidness right away. Wide plank hardwood floors. Stone touches here and there but never too much. The living room is bigger than you usually get in Old Town and I noticed the way the natural light just pours in from the patio windows. It feels good during the day and somehow cozier as the sun sets. Bedrooms are generous as well with windows that do let you wake up to that city sound without it ever being too noisy. The third bedroom honestly feels as large as some masters I have seen in places around Downtown Dubai. The maid's room is off to the side so it is easy if you need the extra help. Bathrooms are not just showy with marble everywhere but actually practical with space to move around. You can tell whoever put this home together really cared about the everyday details.
The kitchen is enclosed so you can cook for real which is nice. There is enough storage and all the built-in appliances you need so you are not always running out to buy small stuff. I had a chat with the owner who mentioned the kitchen is where they spent most evenings chatting or prepping food before wandering out to the patio. Even if you are not big on cooking it just feels easy to keep things clean and organized in here.
The building itself keeps things relaxed and comfortable. You are in Souq Al Bahar which means you can just wander across for dinner or to the coffee shop that is almost always open. When family comes to visit there is an outdoor pool and a gym that does not get too crowded most days. I have seen kids in the play area after school laughing with each other or riding bikes along the quiet parts of the island walkways. It is secure too because there is always someone at the reception or walking the floor. That subtle peace of mind goes a long way. You are less than a ten minute walk from Dubai Mall if you need something quick and the fountains are so close you start to take them for granted after a while.
What surprised me most is how private it all feels even though you are right in the center of Downtown Dubai. The whole Old Town Island neighborhood is tucked away just enough so you get this mix of energy and privacy that is hard to find. Plus there is something about the architecture here that just feels warm not cold like some new towers going up nearby.
Honestly places like this do not come along very often. But as much as I like it that really is just my opinion. The only way to know if it feels right is to come see it yourself.
