1 Bedroom Apartment in Emaar 6 Towers, Dubai Marina

Some places really do just slow you down the moment you walk in. This one bedroom apartment up on the fourteenth floor at Al Mesk in Emaar Six Towers kind of caught me off guard that way. I must have stopped right by the front door for a good minute just watching how the light comes in from the terrace. Maybe it's the way everything's a little higher up and quieter or how the views open up at that level. Whatever it is you just notice your breathing somehow gets easier here.

Right away you get that this apartment is more than it looks on paper. Sure it is officially a one bedroom apartment but the study really surprised me because it is bigger than you might guess and honestly does just fine as a second bedroom or if you have friends stop by or maybe you work from home and want a bit of space for that. The way it wraps around to the terrace is kind of its own thing. Sometimes you just want to step outside with coffee and watch the city wake up before life gets busy. From up here the Marina itself is almost gliding by below you. I stood by the railing the first time and watched the sunlight move across the water and the pool right under you. You get both water and pool views which feels like a holiday every day.

Inside feels warm but not fussy. The furnishings are solid and comfortable not at all like temporary rentals where things never quite fit. There is real thought put in here from the tiled floors that always feel cool underfoot to the way the cupboards slide easy and quiet. The living and dining area is actually big enough that you can imagine people sitting down to eat together instead of everyone eating on the couch in front of the TV. The kitchen is tucked in just right for people who cook for real not just takeout every day. It is the sort of place where you might try making that pasta dish you always wanted to master. There are two bathrooms so you never feel rushed. You will also see built in wardrobes that mean you are not tripping over suitcases.

One of the best things at Al Mesk is that feeling that you are in a proper building. Things just run smooth somehow. The lobby does not feel cold or echoing. There's always a smile from the concierge or someone from security who will probably remember your name by the end of the week. You can head down to the private pool with a lifeguard always looking out or wander over to the big community pool where on some weekends you'll see people grilling by the barbecue area laughing and not worrying about time. There are separate gyms for men and women and nobody stares or rushes you. You just settle in to your own rhythm.

Safety is just not a worry you have here. There is always someone at the desk no matter what time you wander in. Kids might be riding their bikes below or someone walking their dog and you get the feeling everyone sort of knows each other even if it's just a nod in the lift.

Now if you love having everything nearby you are in luck because you can walk right onto Marina Walk from right outside. I have honestly lost count how many coffee shops there are on that stretch. And if you are not in the mood to cook one night you are maybe a short walk or drive from places like PF Changs and Tony Romas plus all those spots at Marina Mall which is just up the street. You can be out the front door and sitting with friends at dinner before you even realize where the day went.
