Some places just have a bit of magic the moment you walk in. This two bedroom apartment at The Residences in Downtown Dubai is exactly that. First thing I noticed after stepping inside was how the Burj Khalifa sits right there in the view. You get Burj Lake just under you. And if you stand by the window for a minute you can watch the Dubai Fountain swirl and jump. Honestly you almost forget you are in the middle of a huge city because it all just feels calm up here.

The apartment itself is bright all day. That is probably because of those big floor to ceiling windows. I actually found myself wandering around looking at how the light moves from the living area right into both bedrooms. There is a gentle energy in here it just feels easy to relax and actually spend time at home. The main living space is open so the kitchen flows right into where you would have your sofa probably a small dining spot too. And the kitchen is not just for show it actually feels like somewhere you might want to make pancakes on a Sunday morning or cook a proper dinner without bumping elbows. All the appliances are just ready to go which is nice because you do not have to worry about setting anything up from scratch.

Both of the bedrooms are big. Really big you sort of stand in them and think you could actually spread out here without feeling cramped even if you have a lot of stuff. They both have their own bathroom attached and I noticed plenty of closet space built in so storing everything from luggage to extra shoes is not a problem. The bathrooms feel modern and sometimes it is the little things like the mirror lighting that make it more comfortable.

One of my favorite things here is the balcony. You get those million dirham views but also space for a little table or a couple of plants. I actually stopped for five minutes just thinking about how I would lay out some Frangipani or something simple just to make it feel even more at home. In the evenings it must be a great spot to unwind after work maybe with a cup of tea just listening to the city sounds. There is just something special about looking at the Burj Khalifa twinkle at night and knowing it is really that close.

Living at The Residences Downtown Dubai is very much about lifestyle too. The building feels secure for sure. There is always someone at the reception and security is around all the time. You get your own assigned underground parking which really takes a lot of pressure off when you are coming home late or have friends visiting. The pool is temperature controlled so it actually gets plenty of use even in summer and I saw a couple people getting laps in when I was there in the afternoon. The gym is a real gym not just a treadmill in the corner you will probably find neighbors in there on the weekends keeping routines going. There is even a room downstairs for gatherings I can picture birthdays or just dinner with friends happening down there from time to time.

The area is almost like living in a city within a city. You can get out for a walk along the lake or grab a coffee from one of the spots nearby. DIFC and Business Bay are both close and really the Dubai Metro is not far so you have options if you want to get out without driving. Sometimes in the evenings you see families walking with strollers or kids darting around on bikes near the water it just feels full of life but never rushed.
