Dubai Marina
Some places you walk into and you just breathe a little deeper. That is what happened to me stepping inside this two bedroom apartment in Marina Arcade in Dubai Marina. The lobby is always cool and there is this gentle hum from the building, a little bit of life but never noisy. I found myself just wandering into the living room and looking out of these really wide windows that let in so much of the Dubai sun you almost want to reach up and touch it.
The apartment is pretty generous with its space, right around sixteen hundred square feet or so, and honestly it feels bigger when you are actually inside it. The living area just opens up, like there is finally room for you to set your stuff down and have them exactly where you want. The first thing you notice is how bright it is almost any time of day. Imagine curling up by that window with a book. Even if you never read anything, you might just end up people watching. At night you see the city lights come alive through the glass and sometimes it is hard to stop looking.
There is a balcony attached to the master bedroom and if you are anything like me, you will probably end up standing outside in the evening just listening for a breeze or catching a glimpse of the Palm or the golf course out in the distance. It feels open, not boxed in like you sometimes get in newer buildings. The second bedroom is pretty good too. Honestly, either could be set up for guests easily or turned into a work space. I once saw someone sit on the floor in here not wanting to leave because it just felt peaceful, almost tucked away from the world.
Now about the kitchen. Sometimes you can tell if a place was made for show or for living in. This kitchen feels like someone thought about real life. The oven is larger than you usually find and the fridge is built in neat along the wall so you do not always notice it is even there. All the appliances are sorted and just seem to work without fuss. You will probably end up cooking here for real instead of ordering out every single night. And when you are done cooking, there is even a storage room nearby so you are never stuck for places to hide your cereal boxes and all the little things that life needs.
The rest of the building is just as practical. The Marina Arcade tower is one of those buildings you probably have driven past more than once because the shape stands out along Dubai Marina's skyline. The security guards always remember faces and you just feel comfortable popping down to the lobby. There is a gym and a pool if you like to keep active but honestly it is just as easy to walk down towards Media City or Jumeirah Beach. If you are into golf you will see that course out in the distance. I like that you can just walk to the metro if you want or take the tram. Even when traffic is heavy you do not feel boxed in here the way you do in some parts of the city.
Dubai Marina itself is never boring. You hear people laughing while walking back from the cafes. There is always some jogger out doing another lap around the water. In the evenings the whole area just lights up, a great spot to grab a coffee or meet up with friends. Plus, there is always some new place opening up on the marina walk so you do not have to go far to try something new.
This place feels more lived in than most new towers I have seen. It just worksโ from where the sun falls on the sofa to the way you can actually smell something cooking nearby if you leave the window open. You get to know a home by being in it and honestly, the best way to see if it fits is to spend a little time inside.
