Villa Quercia, Chianni
Some places really do make you slow down whether you meant to or not. That was my first feeling at Villa Quercia in Chianni. As soon as I walked up the old stone steps and looked out across those never ending hills, I felt that kind of quiet that only comes with time. The Tuscan countryside just spreads out around you on every side. It is not just a view from a window. You feel part of it somehow. I found myself standing still outside for a few minutes before I even opened the door. The birds were out, the air was soft, and there was even a faint bell in the distance. You only get that in these slices of Italy.
Walking in, you get that lovely sense of a home that's seen generations but still feels young. Seven bedrooms and every one with air conditioning and good WiFi, so you are set for a summer holiday or even longer. Sometimes you worry an old farmhouse will feel heavy or too precious but here it just feels easy. Worn brick and beams that feel smooth under your hand, thick old windows letting in the sort of light that makes everything glow. The kitchen actually feels like somewhere you would want to cook together with family or friends. There is a long, simple counter that's just waiting for fresh pasta or a slow breakfast with the local honey and bread from the village. And the living room surprised me. It is open, high ceilings, and there is a fireplace for chilly evenings. I sat down on the couch and honestly got stuck watching the light on the walls instead of moving on.
Upstairs, five of the bedrooms let you look out across the gardens and hills. The main veranda runs out long and wide so you have space to sit and listen in the cool shade or just look for the shape of the next hill. Some mornings hang misty over the treetops and on the clearest days you almost forget to check your messages. Downstairs, two bedrooms are tucked away for anyone who does not love stairs or maybe if you bring grandparents along.
Outside is where Villa Quercia really wins you over. To the back, a private swimming pool sits under the sun and I have to say the saltwater system makes it feel softer on your skin. There are old trees shielding the house and a proper green lawn where kids can just tumble around until sunset. Someone thought to add a barbeque by the pool and there is a shaded gazebo for afternoons that just drift on. I could easily picture long evenings with everyone around that fourteen seat table outside, wine poured and plates full of local cheese and tomatoes. It is easy to see how this villa becomes the heart of simple celebrations or just laid back weekends.
A nice touch I did not expect was the separate annexe right next door. It is all set up with its own kitchen and a real wood oven. I can just imagine pizza nights out there or maybe using it as a place for friends to have their own space. Maybe you even want to try running it as a guest suite or studio.
The local lifestyle is classic Tuscany. Chianni is nearby, with slow mornings at the bar and a little grocery where the owner remembers your name. You can pop out for homemade gelato without a fuss. Art cities like Florence Siena Pisa Lucca and San Gimignano are all within reach if you want a day of exploring or just an afternoon lunch somewhere new, then be back to your own little world by evening. The best thing is, it just never feels rushed out here. I know some people dream of writing a book in the countryside or opening a guesthouse and honestly this is one of those rare properties where you could do either or both.
Whether you want it as a home for everyone to come together or a quiet retreat to escape into Tuscan life, Villa Quercia really does give you room to breathe. And at one million nine hundred thousand AED for this much space land and history, it feels refreshingly unforced. To know if it is right you have to walk through, take in the hillside views and just see how it feels. If you are curious or just want to chat about life here, reach out anytime.
